  1. Putting in a new aluminum radiator to handle the new A/C and the hot AZ summers. My fan clutch housing is too deep and I need one that won't make my fan hit the new radiator, any ideas? Can scour the junk yard, but hoping someone might have one that would work. Thanks!
  2. Arne, you are correct, it would be easier and better to have a replacement thermostat housing unit, rather than redrill and rethread. Thanks!
  3. Bruce - thanks for the tip. Is there a good source for Heli-coil? Should I go with the repair kit, and rebore and rethread, or is there another kit I should look at? Arne - the thermostat housing is fine, it is the seat that the bolt holds the housing down that appears to be stripped. Am thinking that I will need to rethread a larger bolt to hold.
  4. Noticed a coolant leak from the thermostat area and thought the bolt closest to the engine holding the thermostat was loose from vibration, etc, so I tried to tighten it. The bolt "slipped" past the point of tightness and became loose. So, figured the bolt might be stripped, pulled it out looked fine. Replaced it with a new bolt, same thing happened: got to a certain point of tightness then loosened up. Now I am figuring that the housing for the bolt is stripped. Was looking at going to the next size bolt, rebore and rethread the housing. Anything I should or should not do before I proceed? What is the best way to rethread? Thanks!
  5. I have new red vinyl for the interior that I am going to sell, decided to go with black. PM me if any interest.
  6. Also, the system unit is much smaller than the existing heater box under the dash.
  7. I am using Hot Rod Air to build my system. They can use your existing heater/vent panel controls to work their modern A/C system, which I thought was cool. So, no change in the look or function of my dash controls! Also, using modern technology will make the system much more functional than putting in one of the systems similar to the original. We follks in AZ need all the help we can get!!! Just finished putting FatMat throughout the car this last weekend, which should help even more.
  8. Thanks, Dave, have seen the stuff but didn't know what it was!
  9. What is a good solution to filling the gap between the filler tube and the floor opening?
  10. Thanks, Christopher. Any more harness or wire diagrams in that FSM? Regards, Stephen
  11. Thanks, Enrique and Dave, for the info. Will confirm that my harness matches up and start the rehab process!!
  12. Anyone out there have a diagram of the early series 1 dash wire harness, from 10/69 to 1/70? Enrique (Escanlon) was kind enough to supply me with many wire diagrams but they were for later years. I am going through the repair process of my harness and would love a diagram to assist in the cause. Thanks, Stephen
  13. My speedo cable and hood release cable come through the same hole in my firewall, is that correct? If so, is there a grommet that fits the 1 1/2 inch hole that accomodates 2 cables? Thanks, Stephen
  14. Anyone wanting to sell an early 1970 original wire harness? The photo below shows the correct connections to the body and engine harness from my original dash harness. thanks!
  15. Well, I spent some time evaluating the diagrams that E sent and determined that they are a later model than mine. I found I have different colors and different numbers of connectors from the dash harness to the fuseblock and to the engine harness. The wire diagrams are identical to the replacement harness I got from Arne. I started at the ignition and connected most of the wires, then got to the fuseblock and there were many that didn't match up in color or connector. By the time I got to the engine and body harness connections, it wasn't even close! I believe that the best bet is to patch up my old harness or acquire a better replacement harness from the earliest series 1 Z! Thanks, E and Ron, for your assistance!
  16. I am looking at Dashboard Restorations, USA, to restore my trashed dash. They are out of the traditional "haircell" type of covering material and are sending me a sample of an alternative material, which I should get shortly. Any thoughts on type of cover I should use or not use? Anyone out there who has had their dashes recovered lately have any ideas or thoughts? If the haircell material is the desired cover, I can source that from another company, if need be. I appreciate any input! Thanks!
  17. Thanks, Geezer, I appreciate your assistance! I just got back this evening from a quick trip to Texas, will tackle this tomorrow and let you know what I find (pics, etc).
  18. Thanks, E and Geezer, am out of state until tonight will review the diagrams versus my car and see what I can do. Geezer, at this point I have a potential replacement wire harness in great shape, whereas my original is not so great. Trying to see if i can modify it to work, might be easier than patching up my existing harness. E, the numbers are from the old dash harness and engine harness behind the replacement harness. I numbered them when I took the dash off for restoration and pulled the harnesses apart.
  19. Here are some more detailed pics with the wires from the dash and engine harness connected as much as possible. The numbers are on the engine harness.
  20. Here are some pics of the replacement dash harness (pics 1 and 2) and the original engine harness (pic 3) it needs to couple with. You can see the different connectors. Can I mate these up with the right connectors?
  21. Thanks, Arne, for your input. It is a nice harness, and if I can make it work, I would prefer to do so. I am going to take some pics of the connections and see if Enrique or someone will chime in with their thoughts on adapting the harness to fit the engine harness. If unable to do so, will see if I can find the appropriate engine harness.
  22. Thanks, E, will take some pics of the connections side-by-side.
  23. I believe I have the E4600 harness (1/70 build date), whereas the one I just bought is E4601. The connectors on the 2 separate engine and rear harnesses (E4650 and E4651) look very different than my original one. I guess what I am trying to determine is can I make use of the replacement harness in an earlier model? I am hoping some of the electrical geniuses will chime in here, please!!!
  24. I just picked up an underdash harness from Arne ( in beautiful condition!), that I was going to use to replace my early series 1 harness (production 1/70). The part numbers that are still on the replacement harness are 24013-E4650 and E4651, for the engine and rear harness connections. Many of the connectors for the engine and rear harness do not match up. What year harness does this come off of? I tried looking for these numbers off of the microfiche but couldn't find them. Thanks!
  25. Thanks, everyone, for clarifying. I thought we were talking about the plunger switch, not the part attached to the brake assembly.
