  1. Panamared, how did the Fatmat install finish up? Did you have enough to cover the interior? How did you do the doors?
  2. Thanks, Mat, I will check into it before I look at getting a replacement plastic tank. Stephen
  3. My early Z has the plastic evap fuel tank and it has developed some hairline cracks in it:surprised . Is there any way of repairing this? The metal tank is too big and won't fit. Any thoughts? Thanks, Stephen
  4. Mitchell, I hope you are correct on the piping info, because the pic they sent to me (see earlier reply, same thread) does not show any piping.
  5. Looking for a white 19 tooth speedo pinion gear. Any good sources out there? Thanks, Stephen
  6. Mitchell, please provide pics of your MSA panels once you receive them. David (Graham53), great source for the metal trim on the panels! David (Montezuma), could be gold sitting in your garage!! Stephen
  7. Thanks, Mitchell, MSA said they should turn out like this:
  8. Just heard back from MSA, they charge about $285 to have both door panels repaired and re-upholstered. This seems like a reasonable price. MSA also offers new panels for $265 per side. Stephen
  9. Just heard back from Les at Classic Datsuns, he will recover but doesn't have time to repair the panels. Am interested to hear back from MSA and see what they say.
  10. Bryan, would be extremely interested and willing to buy soon at a fair price, as most panels available are in pretty rough shape. Thanks, Stephen
  11. I have completed the body work and paint, have had the engine rebuilt, and am in process of having new suspension parts (struts, springs, bushings, etc) installed this week. Also, replaced the 4 speed and R180 with a 5 speed and R200 diff. Next, much to do on the interior ... I feel pretty good about sourcing everything but the door panels. The PO put in speakers and trashed a lot of the remaining door panel hardboard. I am trying to figure out my best options. I was hoping to find some used panels with poor skins but good hardboard and just recover them. I was also looking to see if anyone made new repros, but the only option was an Ebay provider and I am not sure if he has any more. Any other thoughts? Thanks, Stephen
  12. I am upgrading my tranny and diff to a 5 speed and R200. Is it worth trying to sell the 4 speed and R180? Is there much market for them? The R180 is the original, I believe, for my early Z but the 4 speed tranny is a replacement. Any thoughts? Thanks!
  13. I got mine off ebay. They have 2 plastic pieces that attach, or go in, where the headlight adjustment screws are and an adhesive piece that attaches to the front lower part of the headlight housing. Just seems to be somewhat lame ...
  14. I purchased some clear plastic headlight covers for my Z last year and am finally looking at installing them. Unfortunately, the fit is not that great . There seem to be many gaps I can't close. Has anyone had any luck with a good fit? Can you get the nice chrome-trimmed ones anywhere that fit more securely? Appreciate the feedback!
  15. Great looking boot, Bryan! Just got mine yesterday. Now, where are we on the replacement grommet (I don't have one!) Thanks, Stephen
  16. I have been quoted $750 to $900 for a rebuilt 5 spped, sounds good to me.
  17. Due to the limitations of getting original seats from other cars and models, what is the general thought of the cheap racing seats offered on ebay? Just asking ...
  18. I saw Tomohawk's thread on 280z replacement seats, but I have searched for advice on comfortable replacement seats for the 240z with mixed results. Thought I would ask the question in a specific thread. I am aware of Miata and Acura seats as options, are there other options (other than racing seats) that would work? I am looking for better comfort and support than the standard 240z seat. Thanks, Stephen
  19. Marty, other than having to change the moustache bar, etc, doesn't it make more sense to go with the R200, rather than the R180? Was always told the R200 is more durable, etc, and was a desired swap for those going from a 4 speed to a 5 speed tranny. Your thoughts?
  20. I had Spanky's in Mesa, AZ, do mine for about $5,000. Took everything off, including glass, did some welding, etc. A very good job for the money.
  21. Are the bushings easy to replace? What is a good source for them?
  22. Thanks, all, for your thoughts, is appreciated!!
  23. Thanks, Bob. I know there are many different schools of thought as to what is considered the "preferred" differential; 3.54 vs 3.91 vs 4.11 (I believe). What are some general thoughts on what is best for general road driving, not racing. Thanks!
  24. Saw this ad on ebay and considering upgrading to 5 speed and R200 differential. What are your thoughts on a fair price for this type diff? Thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180065124376&rd=1,1
  25. Thanks, Brushie, got the moustache bar and the heater control panel. Everything in great shape and appreciate the fair price! Regards, Stephen
