280zx engine swap to 240z
Thanks, Arne, for your thoughts on this, have always wondered. The electronic ignition upgrade looks like a worthwhile upgrade.

280zx engine swap to 240z
Thanks Arne, seems simple enough! Does it make sense to move to electronic ignition on the L28, rather than deal with carbueration? Probably one's own opinion, but thought I would ask.

280zx engine swap to 240z
General question, albeit stupid: what advantages does the L28 have over the L24 engine?

Side Marker Lights
What is best source for new marker lights and gaskets? Once I get mine to work, need to replace a couple of mine. Thanks!

Side Marker Lights
What are best steps to take to determine why none of my side marker lights work when headlights or turn signals are on. Any ideas? Thanks!

I just had engine work completed to the tune of almost $5,000 and the body and paint will probably match that amount!! I am not doing anything special but it sure adds up!!! Wish I were more mechanically inclined. I plan on doing some work on the interior ... unless I screw it up and then it goes to a pro!!

Kurt, it is cool having a low vin number but after just having sunk big $$ into engine, with the opportunity to do the same with the exterior and then the interior, it is hard to explain to my understanding wife to not look at the Z as a glorified money pit!! Oh well, the end result will be worth it!!

I agree, 240ZX, what a great source of information and support! I feel I am in a group therapy session for demented Z owners! A great feeling!! Will get the pics when I get the car back ... promise!

Hi, ddezso, I have it at John Tharp's Auto, in north Phx. Am having major engine work done on it, won't have back until at least next week. No pics since it has not been in my possession for weeks!! Might have the body work done at Spanky's, will get quote and see.

Need Tachometer for early 70 Z
Hi all, am looking for a good used tach for my early 70 Z. Don't want to go aftermarket, as the speedometer and tach won't match and I want to stay original anyway. Any ideas?

Sorry for the late delay in responding to all! Yes, I am already lightening my wallet, as my car is in for major engine overhaul. Fortunately, have it in the hands of a Classic Z owner (and mechanic) in Phoenix to resurrect the beast! Will update when I get it back (in shop for last 3 to 4 weeks, ouch!!)

Alfadog, way to put a wet towel on the celebration ...! No, I appreciate your input and I read the previous thread regarding production dates. I am comfortable in having the 1,399 LHD version Z made! ddezso, I live in McDowell Mtn Ranch. Thanks for the info on the Pavillions show, hope my Z is delieverd by then!

Unfortunately, had to leave my new toy in LA, waiting for auto shipper to pick up and deliver this week. Didn't want to take the chance of driving back to Scottsdale, AZ, and have it blow up!! Will have pics soon!

Proud new 1970 240Z Owner!!
I am pleased to join the long list of happy Z owners as of yesterday, 11/5! I made an impulsive decision to jump on a plane at the last second to fly from Phoenix to LA yesterday to look at a Z for sale. The owner was a nice guy who didn't have the time nor assets to invest in the car to get it up to good condition, so he put it on the market on Friday. It was a good deal financially but the most impressive part is the VIN number: HLS3001399!!!! I now own the 1,399 Z ever built, so cool! I am looking forward to getting it in primo shape and will look forward to gaining the insight of so many other Z enthusiasts. Long live the Z!!!

Purchasing 1970 240Z
Thanks, everyone! Unfortunately, seller bought from someone who worked at Nissan and they replaced the engine about 8 yrs ago.

Got a VIN number of HLS3001399, is that low or high?

Purchasing 1970 240Z
Makes sense. Any concerns about having a 2.8 liter engine dropped under the hood, instead of the original?

Purchasing 1970 240Z
I am a long-time admirer of the old 240Z and looking to acquire a 1970 first year model, with hopes of some appreciation. Any suggestions from you experienced Z owners on what to look for and stay away from? Thanks!
