  1. All good points, Dennis. I have just completed the interior, with FatMat throughout. I realize without the louvers or tinted windows, the comfort level will not be as good, but wanted to have better air flow control as a start. The window tint, and maybe louvers, will be coming!
  2. Thanks, Jay, will look into that website. Carl, I have a call into HodRod Air, will see what they say this week as far as vent options..
  3. Bill, guess I am looking for the ability to better direct airflow out of the center vent, rather than let it shoot out straight ahead or forced right and left. Something with louvers would allow me to direct it on the driver or passenger, or both, with better intensity. Would just as soon leave the side vents alone. At least that's what I am thinking!
  4. Thanks, I feel I need something different than a 240Z vent, not sure if later models have anything that might work. The inner dimensions where the vent/louver would go are 1 1/2" by 5 3/4". Would love to find something that fits inside and has louvers that can turn the air any direction.
  5. Sorry, E, I was showing a pic of my original vent, the one that is installed has the ribs that point to both the driver and passenger. Still not a great option. Looking for something that will allow me to point the vent directly on the driver or passenger, or both.
  6. I have installed the HotRod Air aftermarket AC in my Z and am not satisfied with the air flow provided by the center vent over the vent controls. I have a 70 240Z with a later model vent that diffuses the air both to the right and to the left, but I am trying to find a vent that will help me concentrate the air to the driver. Here in Arizona the hot summers are challenging for any AC system and focusing the air directly on the driver would add in the comfort department. I am hoping I can find a replacement vent of the same size, with louver controls. Here is a pic of my original vent, which has big gaps and does not concentrate the air at all where I want it. Any thoughts out there?
  7. Never thought of that, Stephen. Since one cannot open the float while there is a full tank, what would be the best procedure for doing this? Am assuming you might have to do this over a few tanks of gas to get reasonably close.
  8. I have the same issue; full tank only reflects 3/4 full on the gauge!
  9. Yes, Will, that would be a high demand item from the Z community, I would bet. Do keep us posted!
  10. Where did you get the repros from? Wonder if they can fix the incorrect fit on new ones.
  11. Looks great, 240ZGL, would love to have a set of those headlight rings!!! Has anyone heard anything about new repros?
  12. Just ordered mine, not sure the # yet.:classic:
  13. Any great ideas on polishing/cleaning up engine components? Have no problem with toothbrush and putting in the time, but trying to see what is the appropriate cleaner/polisher solution I should use. My valve cover and air filters are shiny, so want to clean up or refresh the rest of the engine. Tried checking archives on engine cleaning, polishing or shining with no luck. Any thoughts?
  14. The black bag probably is the wiper motor cover.
  15. My 70 240Z had a 5 speed and R200 diff from an 82 280ZX installed a year ago. Was noticing a lot of whining, and other noises coming out of the rear end. Was figuring a rebuild on the diff (as it is still over 25 years old). Decided to look into getting different gear oil to see if that will quiet the noise down. Couldn't get my hands on any Red Line in a quick manner, so went to Napa and got some Royal Purple 75W140 synthetic gear oil. Figured that the thicker oil might quiet things down, and it would be a cheap alternative to a rebuild! Just finished driving it around and I can't believe the difference the 75W140 makes over whatever standard oil I had before! Would highly recommend it for anyone with similar problems! Of course, here in AZ the thicker gear oil probably makes sense anyway!!
  16. Thanks, Enrique. I have pulled my ventilation system and replaced it with a Hot Rod Air AC system. I may have to modify something to keep the vent in place, after I install the foam around it!
  17. Oh, that's right, the light fixture above the vent holds it in place, if I remember correctly. Thanks, Mike! I thouhgt I was missing some parts!!
  18. It has been quite a while since I took my ventilation system apart, and now I can't remember how the center vent/hose attaches to the back of the vent controls :knockedou ! I know it matches up size wise (see pic below), but I must be missing something that secures it to the back of the control unit! I appreciate the assistance!!
  19. Thanks, Will, good idea!
  20. I just had my dash restored and I cleaned up the vents, including the housing for the end "eyeball" vents. The "fuzzy" stuff that held the "eyeball" vent in place is now pretty much destroyed due to aga and cleaning. Any suggestions on what I can use to hold the vents in place so they don't move all around?
  21. Thanks, Steve and Arne, I appreciate your assistance! Steve, I am PMing you.
  22. Here is a picture of my fan with my existing radiator. I believe that the plastic fan is version 1 in your diagram above. I am trying to find a clutch assembly that doesn't stick out as far from the engine so it will not hit the aluminum radiator I am installing. It is a 280Z engine, if that makes any difference. Thanks!
