  1. Ok, brake lights used to work fine on my 70 240Z, then worked periodically and now don't work at all. Checked the brake switch, it works fine (used voltmeter to confirm power). Hazard lights work fine, with the brake lights going on and off with the other lights. So, brake switch and hazard switch work fine, does that mean my problem lies in the T/S switch? Based on what I pulled up in the archives, am thinking that is the case. Thoughts?
  2. I hope Bruce at Ztherapy jumps in, but I go with 23 mm for both, works great!
  3. I use 3 n 1 oil, which is about 20 wt, works fine for me.
  4. Mike, if you have the right level of damper oil, you should get resistance in the last 1/2", or so, of putting the valve stock in. If you have any excess, it will burn off in the carb while running.
  5. That is the R/T (Ron Tyler) mount that Technoversions is kind enough to fabricate. Many people, including myself, have these and they are great!!
  6. Tried the lemon juice method with varied results. The basic grime and dirt came off but the black carbon in the dome and on the piston did not come off. Even with the bucket of soapy water, still needed carb cleaner to remove it. Was a great method for cleaning small bolts, washers, and other small parts!
  7. Never used any, just a good gasket, properly tightened, should be enough to keep any oil from leaking. Oops! Misread post, thought it was about the valve cover gasket.
  8. Dumb question, Blue, but what are they for?
  9. Grab the R200 diff to go with the tranny
  10. Just a way of securing your A/F knob from getting any more rich. It stops the A/F knob from dropping down any further. Most carb sets have them removed, that I have seen.
  11. Sorry, if this has been on here before, but I saw it on another website and thought it was cool!
  12. Ok, thanks, Carl, was thinking around $150 or so for the set. Appreciate the response!
  13. My neighbor has a set of 1972 240Z wheel covers (hubcaps) that he is looking to sell. His wheels were sold out from under him, so he doesn't need the hubcaps anymore. They are in decent shape, only one small dent that can be hammered out. Any ideas on valuation? Thanks!
  14. Depends if you want the higher demand early style without the winter/summer flap (around $100 to $150), or the newer style with the flap (under $100). These are prices I have seen recently.
  15. Had the same issue, made sure that all wheels were dynamically rebalanced, problem is gone!
  16. Thank you, everyone, for your input. Based upon the fact that the wires are new, and I was the one who cut the custom length spark plug wires, I believe the issue was caused by me (big surprise!). I always felt that one or two of the wires were cut a tad short by me. I installed a spark plug wire holder over the thermostat housing Monday, moving the wires around slightly, and this problem started. Am thinking one of my wires needs to be lengthened to assure proper contact with distributor. Will pursue and let you know the results.
  17. Will take some pics and show the setup. Spark plug wires are almost brand new, heavier gauge than prior wires.
  18. Never had this issue before, but started my car to adjust the carbs and noticed a few intermittent arcing sparks on my coil from the ground (negative) post to the center wire from the distributor through the plastic housing. Happened just a few times and then stopped. Weird! Have not done anything new to my electrical recently. Have Blaster coil, e12-80 electronic ignition, and recently new, thicker spark plug wires. Car stumbled slightly when the arcing occured. Any thoughts?
  19. Ironhelix, I am hoping you bought the speedo sleeve assy. for 20 to 23 teeth pinion gears, part #32707-66300, otherwise will not fit in the smaller pinion gear housing and the gears will bind. Read what it says about the larger tooth gears in ggretc's post above; http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1978&d=1051876395. The larger pinion gears will fit in the pinion gear housing for the smaller 19 tooth or less gears, but the teeth will not line up correctly in the tranny.
  20. If you are about 10% off, you may need the 21 tooth pinion gear, which has ~10% more teeth than the 19 tooth pinion gear. If so, will need the special housing that grretc reflects in his post for the larger pinion gear.

  22. Nathan, can help you with your carbs, if you need it: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/pts/2919682093.html
  23. As a comparison, I just had new bearings and synchros replaced in my 83 5 speed trans, casing cleaned and painted, and the flywheel turned for $680 in Phoenix. Like new!
  24. Brings tears to my eye! I have a set in route to Ztherapy right now!
  25. Too easy, didn't know the part still existed! Thanks, Zup!!
