Interior light
Well, at least I am in the same fine boat as most. I'll stick pulling the clock out on my weekend todo list. Hopefully I don't have many honey do's this weekend. I know, I'll tell my wife all I want for fathers day is a day to work on my Z! My two year old may not buy that though...

Does the clock have one of the individual fuse holders that I see many of by trhe fuse block?

Interior light
Ron, I'll check that as well. The map light worked prior to the radio install, but I did not check to see if it or the glove box light were still functioning. The clock? Never worked since I got the car. I thought that was just endemic to the breed... Thanks, I'll report back

Interior light
Thanks. I was at the Colorado River water skiing the last couple days, Wish I could bolt something on my body for better performance, like I can the Z. Not as nimble as I used to be. I will check all this weekend. Now another electrical problem. I had the fuse block out when I installed the am radio. Now, the horn and emergency flashers don't work. I must have pulled some wires loose on the fuse block. I have to check that out as well.

Would the red wire for the key in buzzer under the ignition housing that is disconnected in my car cause the light not to go on, since it is on the same circuit?

Thanks Mike. I'll give that a shot tonight.

Interior light
When I open my doors, the interior roof light does not go on. However, when I push the light to manually turn it on, it does light up. I pushed both pin switches on each door, they seem top move in and out fine, but don't activate the light. Why do you think it doesn't light up? I am missing something? Is there another switch someplace that I don't know about. I know in most cars there is a swicth for door/off/on. Thanks guys.

One person brake bleeding
I have the speed bleeders. There is no leaking from the threads when loosened. They work great.

Paint: Should I or should I not....
I am with you on that Mark. The grill needs to be respayed gray as well. I'll pick up some of Les' rattlecans when the time is right.

Paint: Should I or should I not....
Thanks Arne. I didn't want to lose them, like i did when I removed some interior panels, as I don't know if the smaller rivets are available from MSA.

Paint: Should I or should I not....
The painter said he would paint tail, rockers and spook for $500. That doesn't seem too bad. He also said that it will be diffuclt to spot the new paint as he can match it exactly. I think that I will take it to him to do late this summer. He needs the car for two weeks. Thanks for the info on the finishing panel. When pushing out the plastic rivet pins, where do they go? Will I be able to find them once they are pushed out?

Paint: Should I or should I not....
Thanks Guys, I was unsure whether I could get a match on the paint. It's good to get other eyes on the car and get some learned opinions. The car just doesn't look right with the black tailend. It detracts from the lines of the car when viewed from the back. I have a painter in mind and he has done some good work on company cars for me. But when it comes to the Z, I have a much more critical eye. You are right Arne, the inlets on the spook gotta go as well. They may have looked good in 71 as Ron says, but they seem way out of place now. I am going to drive it down to his shop tomorrow and see what kinda of pricing he will give me. How easy is it to remove the tailight finishing panel? Does it just unbolt after the interior trim panel is removed? And to paint I guess I need to remove the tailights, which means new gaskets while I am at it.

Paint: Should I or should I not....
My car has original paint in most excellent condition. I am a member of the yellow Z car club as well. When my father in law purchased the car, he had the dealer shoot the entire tail gloss black. I am trying to figure out if I should have the tail resprayed yellow. I really don't know if I like it black. It seems it was taped off at the corners. If it is resprayed, do you think it will be real noticable as a respray? If so, maybe I should just leave it black. And since I am at it, the rockers are painted black as well, should I repaint those too? I don't want to respray the entire car. What to do?

Black Pearl
These are pictures of a beautiful original owner Black Pearl with 17,000 miles on it from the car show I attended. It was immaculate. I still can't figure out how to post pictures to a thumbnail. Techologically impaired I guess. BP.pdf BP-left.pdf BR-right.pdf

Muckenthaler Concours d'Elegance
I entered my car in the Muckenthaler this past Sunday in the pre 1975 Japanese class and took home best in class. I uploaded some pictures of my car in the gallery. But to be honest, there were only two Z's entered, both 1971 yellow cars. There was a third Z there, an immaculate Black Pearl that should have taken the award, but he was a tko due to production year. Also shown was another immaculate 260z from the Group Z Club entered in the unrestored class that took second in that category. He even had the Datsun Gas Can from 1973 on display. There were some beautiful cars, for us car lovers to drool over, I can't load the pictures here for some reason, but will post them to my gallery. Well, it looks like some were uploaded, but I don't know how to upload them so the pictures are imaged without having to open a pdf, sorry guys.
