I tried to access their site and it keeps coming up with a message stating the site has been suspended, wonder what that is all about?

72 on ebay
This almost makes me not want to drive mine at all with 26,000 miles, and just keep it in the garage. But that will not happen, I'll just have to insure I don't rack up alot of miles.

Take a Ride in my roadster
Looks like a nice run Victor. Never heard of Lockwood Valley, where is it? On the way to Palmdale?

how much did you pay for you're Z?
Mine was a gift from the original owner, my Father-in-Law. 26,000 original miles. But I have just over $5500 in the refresh, and more to follow. Still needs struts, sideview mirror, replacement seat covers, carpets and a radio. Then I can work on getting the minor dings out.

We Produced With Spartan Air
There currently is a set of wheels for sale on Yahoo Japan with these same mysterious words. In a search of the internet I found an article re 1985/6 Cedric as follows: Both sets of wheels are non-standard, the Cedric’s borrowing a pair originally off an early 90’s Skyline. The badges on the Nissan’s wheels contain the curious inscription “We produced with Spartan air!â€. This phrase leaves many folk bemused and puzzled. When in Hong Kong in around 1993 every single low-spec Crown taxi had personalised their car with after-market alloy wheels (along with ‘Turbo’ Crown column change gear knobs), and this Crown is no exception with Japanese market (pitted) chrome wire-wheels, which will look OK when cleaned up a bit. Now, it is all cleared up!

Deciding on a color...
Mike, I am biased, but my choice is number 1, paint it yellow.

Getting close to what I want...
Great looking ride. I especially like the rims with the black ; contrasts the blue paint nicely. Keep it.

My first ride in z baby
Thanks for all the replies. Now that its running I plan on taking it down to MSA in April as well. I am getting a little air coming in the cabin from the upper corner of the drivers door. Would new wealther stripping solve this problem? If I stick my fingers in the upper channel with the window closed and pull a little, the sound goes away. Also, i filled it up with premium; Gas gauge then read full. The gas gauge reads less than half now after driving 82 miles.. There is no way I could have gone through half a tank of gas. Are the gauges less than accurate? Is there a way to calibrate it? I did install a new sending unit. Superfunk, I almost thought you were in Ontario, CA, right next door to the shop. Now that would have been truly strange.

My first ride in z baby
Hey all. I picked up my car this morning from the shop. I found the mechanic from a rx from Stephen Blakney, Z-car Specialty in Upland, CA. Thanks Stephen. I was getting worried as it was taking a long time from my point of view, 2 1/2 months, but in the end it turned out fantastic! The shop bored the block and rebuilt the head. New timing chain and oil pump. They also installed a new clutch, pressure plate and t/o bearing, new brake M/C and slave cylinder. After the motor was installed, he could not get any oil pressure and found the new oil pump was bad, so he had to replace that. Prior to taking it to the mechanic I installed z-therapy carbs, It has new brakes all the way around, wheel cylinders , ss brake lines, new m/c, fuel pump, coil, resistor, all hoses, tank was sealed, new vent lines . I was quite exicted to turn the key and have her fire right up, with just a taste of choke. It idled perfect, however the rear carb is sucking air out of the throttle shaft. Weird. Steve at Z-Therapy said he would fix what ever the problem is, so I am going to wait until I break the motor in before I pull the carb and send it back to him. So, I motored out of the shop and onto the freeway. The car seems strong, and It felt great to be behind the wheel. I was going to just drive it home and get my work car to drive to work, but couldn't bring myself to stop driving the Z. Needless to say the commuter car is home today. So I have 50 miles on it now. I'm keeping it below 3500 rpm. Now I know what all of you guys talk about re the Z experience. For lack of a better word, I am stoked. Can't wait to take it up to the Crest for a little spin and see how she handles. Next thing to do is the struts. It has the original shocks all the way around. The front end just bob's up and down. I am following the recent thread on springs/shocks with interest. Original muffler seems ok. I'll post some pictures as soon as I get my camera back from repair.

Series 2 radios
Anybody have any idea what month in 1971 that Nissan offred the am/fm radio rather then only the AM Radio. The reason I ask is that I have a am/fm Bowman aftermarket radio that was installed by the dealer in January 71. I am seeing on ebay that some people list for sale an original am/fm radio and state that it is from a 1971 Datsun. I wish to keep original, so if this occured late in the year, I am stuck with purchasing only the am radio. Last one went on ebay for $325, and it went to the same person that bought the last three that were for sale on ebay. Somebody is buying them that is located 30 miles north of San Diego, so I figure I know who that is. Thanks ya'll.

Old school 5 slot Mags.
I was able to get a replacement cap from Masseys in Oklahoma, (405) 239-2010. Not the exact original but good enough for me. Also, they are metal, not plastic, which I liked more. This is what it looked like on my wheel javascript:;http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=23162&cat=500&ppuser=9967

Hagerty or other collector car insurance?
I insure all of the cars that the owner of my company has with Hagerty's private client services department, for agreed upon values. They include Carrera GT F1 1956 300sl Gullwing Marenello 1965 287 Cobra 1964 427 SC cobra 1957 vette 1966 Shelby GT350 convertible 1963 300sl coupe 1966 275GTB4 No problems ever. Have been with them sometime now. As Carl states, you can use YOUR bodyshop. And, oh yeah, my Z for an agreed upon value of $15,000 for $169 a year. I could drive this to work under the policy ON OCASSION, if my car ever gets running. (I never get to drive any of the owners cars:disappoin )

Motorsport says Tockco springs are NOT progressive
Ron, I have been following this thread with great interest. I agree with you about the nonexistant data from the manufacturer. However, the collective feedback from our members is invaluable compared to what you get from the manufaturer. The feedback in real time under a multitude of various usages is of more interest to me. That way i can compare my specific need against others that have gone before me. Just my two cents.

Need some oversized pistons
Good news, Nissan had the pistons and rings. They'll be in on Friday. The motor will then be put together again and I will be able to hear her purr for the first time. I'm told three weeks out. Head has been rebuilt as well, stainless sleeves were installed. It is now back from the machinist.

Timing Cover Quick Question
I would also recommend dropping the pan as well, or just loosening the pan bolts. I did not do this when I removed my timing cover. When I reinstalled it I pinched the head gasket and had a leak. Then I had to pull the head and replace the head gasket. There is a very tight tolerance when you reinstall the timing cover. You can remove the engine mount bolts and jack up the engine to gain some clearance.

Need some oversized pistons
Thanks for all the leads guys. I am trying to get new Nissan pistons. Carl, the engine has 25,000 original miles, as does the car. No. 5 cylinder was 40% lower on the compression check, so that is the cylinder with the problem. I've given Blackdragon an email and they are checking on availability and price.

Need some oversized pistons
Trying to locate some 20 or 30 over pistons. My mechanic says MSA only has two nissan pistons 20 over, anybody know where to get some more? Are factory pistons the way to go or is there a better piston? Or something equally as good. He tells me my cylinders are egged shapped. I gotta trust him, but how a motor with only 25k miles can cause cylinder walls to deform is beyond me. Thanks guys

Need ur opinion!!!
As Stephen mentioned, in California unless the owner applied for a non-op registration, the California DMV will extract its blood. All past years of revenue will be collected by the DMV prior to their issuance of the new title. This also comes from my personal experience with the DMV.
