Rich. Bob's green 240 that took first place has about the same birthdate as yours. I asked Bob why he had no decals on his air cleaner. He told me that the decals did not come on the air cleaner when new.
  2. Thanks for the responses guys. Carl, my problem is exactly as you describe. I am not running synthetic oil, but will change that this weekend. I read up on this product last evening and it appears that it also contains lubricant for the water pump and corrosion inhibitors. I think that I will try it and report back as to what results I get in combination with the Mobil 1.
  3. While at the WCN I stopped at the Motul vendor. My car runs hot according to the temp gauge most all of the time. By hot I see the gauge at about 1/3 of the way to hot from mid line. It has always run here since I owned the car. When in traffic or on a hot day it goes to about a little over half the way to hot from midline, maybe a hair more than that. I have the original two core radiator. I run antifreeze. The guy at Motul gave me a product named Mo Cool. He said this would help. He advised that I drain the cooling system, use no antifreeze and use enough of the Mo Cool to give the cooling system a 5% solution of this product. He further said that I could just add the Mo Cool without draining the system but that if I did it this way I would only see a 50% improvement over just the solution of antifreeze/water. Anybody ever use this product? What are your thoughts. My only other solution is to go with a custom built three core unit using my exisiting radiator.
  4. Our member Bobc won the 240Z stock class with his green car. I parked right next to him. I was overshaddowed. Next time I'll remember not to park too close to a potential winner. But actually, for me its is the ability to speak with so many Z enthusists about our cars that makes the experience. And I took my four year old for her first car show. It was the first time she rode in my Z and she loved it. Best in show was another member here, esprist. Both beauthiful cars. I didn't recogonize any of the other winners being from our club. But I did get to meet Mike! What a class guy. We are a lucky bunch to have him and his vast skills available to us and for his dedication to this board.

Thanks. Little did I know that insurance was expensive on it as well. What I plan to do is start the Z, grab a canning jar, stick it under the exhaust and then close the lid. That way I can bring the Z with me. Believe it or not, my Z is worth twice what I paid for the MB.

Well, i picked up my latest weekend cruiser. It moves. Very quick. I got a great deal on it. I figure I'll keep it for a few months and then turn it over. I always wanted one of these. 500hp. A 2003. It needs a right bank coil and an air pump for the first stage turbo. Major road rask on the wheels, but I am getting those refinished. Thought I'ld share some pictures. Still not as fun to drive as my Z though.

Or PM member Esprist here. He travels to Japan often and has many connections there.
  8. I'll be again flying my club tshirt, so anybody that attends should be able to recognize me by my shirt!
  9. Arne, what would happen if he added a 1971 smog pump setup? Wouldn't that pass the visual?
  10. OK Arne. Guilt trip worked. Established an account at google. I am officially on the map now. I live in California and I'll cop to owning a Prius as well Jeff. But In my defense I am not green. I just needed to get in the carpool lanes by myself.
  11. And many of us are, or were...

Your car looks really nice Michael. Congratulations. I'll look forward to seeing it at the WSN. It will stand out.
  13. Looks like a piece for a solid state igntion.

Everyone else is concerned with your weight. To me the important thing, if it were me that was confronted with this scenario, is that I would never let my wife drive my Z, well, for any length of time that is. Not that she wants to drive the Z. The opposite is the truth, she won't drive the Z as there are no airbags. But I don't like anyone else driving my Z either. I would be heartbroken if there was a crash. Your wife must drive better than mine.
  15. Thanks Esprist. Mine were dented and rusted so I just went with the Eagle centercaps. They look great. Just wish somebody made stickers in the right diameter to cover the world "Eagle". Steve, they are worth the money in my opinion. And as close as you will get to the original cap, although the logo is from a different company.
  16. You get too many compliments here Bruce.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered the paint so it should be here this week. I need it painted by the time of the MSA WCN. I am probably going to use a friend to do the spraying, he does it for a living. Should only cost me some beer and pizza. Fair trade. For me the learning curve on paint spraying would be high.
  18. If you are mechanically inclined, it only takes a short time to remove the plates yourself. As has been said, the plates have a right angle. Each side should be flat and the angle at 90 degrees where it meets the chassis. 4 bolts and they are out.

Mike, I have a 71 with the small tabs on the hubcaps.
  20. I wouldn't miss it. It's great to talk Z with all of the other owners. It's only 15 minutes from my pad, so I am one of the lucky ones.

I like the trailer hitch on it. Utility Z car.

Is your flat Arne? Without the pignose? If so, maybe mine is correct then. I need to take a picture of it and post it here.

I ordered and received the grommet from Mike at Banzai. Great price, and he shipped it to me quickly. I used the pick method and easily was able to remove the little pins from the plastic connector. Perfect advice! Took all of ten minutes and looks great. Can't tell the difference from the original grommet to Mike's reproduction. One other question regarding firewall grommets. On a early 71, what does the choke cable grommet look like? Somewhere I have seen a grommet offered for sale that looks like it has a small pigtail with two holes in it. Don't know where I saw that one though. My gray hair gets in the way sometimes. The grommet on my car may have been replaced if this is so. The one I have just looks flat and the cables are just pushed through it. The reason I think it may have been replaced is that this is the only grommet on the firewall that looks like somebody used a black RTV type of sealer under the flange of the grommet. Thanks
  24. Rich, his dad owned the shop and needed to sell the ground under it. Elvan works out of his garage now until he gets another shop. Same quality service.
  25. There are quite a few guys out here within a 30 mile radius RJ. Elvan the mechanic I use only works on Zs and is a master mechanic. I was lucky to get the referral. My car is quite similiar to Arne's. Only 30,100 miles on it now. Almost unmolested except for the splash pan and battery cover. Could use some paint, still the original paintjob, but I keep it as a survivor...Here's a picture from the front that I like.
