yeah i dont think that is a good idea. for my intake on my 280 i bought a K&N cone air filter, a 90 degree aluminum elbow (used for turbo plubing, and then took my air box off, stuck the elbow in where the air box came from, put the filer on the end of the elbow, used a thomas clamp to hold it all down to the stock airbox mount and there you have it. it cost me under 60 bucks and i can notice a difference.

no its not the tach that is bad, that is what the motor is doing too.

I have a 75 280Z. Latly it has been running like crap. when i start it it idles, at about 500 but fluxuates alot, the tach is not stable. then i give it the gas an it spits and sputters and backfires then straitens out. Sometimes it hesitates to at like 3000 RPM it stays there for a second then will keep revving up. what is going on. o yeha it also jerks alot when its cold like i cant drive a stick but its not that.

When i bought my car it was going to need a new clutch so the PO gave me a Borg Warner clutch kit,, i think its like 6 piecies. The clutch went out and i dident have time to do it myself so i sent it to the clutch doctor and was going to have them use my parts but they would not put a warrenty on it so i just kept them and had them use theirs. My question is how much is a Borg Warner clutch kit worth? i want to sell it. It is brand new still shrink wrapped.

too bad its a ZX, i dont like ZX's, now if it was a regular 280Z that would be sweet. wonder how fast it is???

no, i think you mean the one molded into the dash, i mean the little push pull knob like a choke pull. in the pics in this thread it is right next to his hood realease and there is one on the passangr side. mine has only the passangers side. its no big deal, just interesting.

This is my first Z, its a 1975 280Z. Origainally the car was light blue, currently it has a really cheap blue matallic paint job that needs redoing. I bought the car about a month ago for $2000. I had to replace the clutch, replace the alternator and regulator, and i had to do plugs, cap, rotor, wires, and front break pads to try to take away the squeak which is still there. When i bought it there was a miss in the engine but only sometimes. While replacing the wires i found that 2 wires had been ripped out of the metal part that clips to the pulg and were just sitting on there. So i fixed that. My car need some work, struts ad tires first! i put a cheap stereo in it but need a new deck and speakers. I have alot of fueatur plans for my Z. from body to interior to enging to suspension. Im really pleased with the car and am glad i bought it. in the pics it needs a washing bad!

im looking to get a new intake from the mass air sensore i think it is forward. i cant find any except for ebay and i cant buy off ebay so i want to make one like ive seen others do. i was thinking just a 90 degree 3" exhust elbow, a bracket and a K&N cone filter would do the trick. any advice?

theres no pull thing like on the pass. side. just a little thing that i can open and close in the heater ducting.

My 280 dosent have those??? o well i like the dash how it is, the PO probably took them off when he put a dash cover on it. I also noticed in those pics that you have a vent pull thing on both sides, mine only has a passangers side vent under the dash.

well to stay on topic first i have had mine to just under 120, with just me in it and nobody around on I-5. It was still slowly ganing speed but i was scared of cops (i have a perfect driving record!) and a curve was coming up. Anyways on the age thing, im 17, i just bought my Z, its my 3rd car (80 toyota 4x4, and a 79 ford bronco before). I bought it for a fun gas friendly car because my bronco runs only on premium with octane booster nad gets under 6 MPG. I worked for mine too, everyday after school and anyday i had off of school, 7 days a week. I have payed for all 3 of my own cars, i pay my insurace (ALOT OF MONEY FOR A 17 YEAR OLD MALE), and i pay for all my gas and if i need parts i pay for that too. if i dont my dad says i cant drive, even though he can aford to help me out he wont which is fine, it teaches responsibility.

I have a 75 280 with a good running L28. i bought the car as a fun daily driver but now i see all the possabilitys and am giving in like i did with my ford bronco. i want to be able to drive my car but build the enginge at the same time so i was thinking get a junk L28 and build it in the shop then drop it in in an evening or two when its done. the question is how much does a core L28 go for with everything?

Cool this sounds like it will work. I am only 17 so that cuts the limits back. Airport area sounds cool for me, i live like 10 miles from it, it might be a bit far for some, who knows though. I have school Mon. - Fri. 8-3 and i work too most weekends but My dad owns the company (a truck repair shop) so i can get most days off if i ask. O yeah, my location is N. Portland (St.Johns) area. I see a lot of Z's with headlight covers, they kind of fill in the "empty" space around the headlight bucket. They are the clear ones, i guess lexan or plastic. WHERE CAN I FIND THEM? I can't find them anywhere. also how much do they run?

Well im from North Portland, almost to Vancover, just off I-5. I'd like to get to know some of the Portland/Metro Z owners.

I was wondering if anyone in the Portland/Vancover (or anyone else that wanted to come) would be interested in putting together a "Z meet"? I recently bought my first Z and would like to get to know somw fellow Z owners near by. Anyone interested? i know the weather has went to crap the last couple few days but maybe lunch at a restrunt some saturday or something? Post any ideas, or let me know if you would be interested.
