Is this OEM or aftermarket upholstery?
Maybe the original diamond cut is under what you see in the picture.

Hows it Sound?
Hey Joe, Looks and sounds pretty good. What did you have to do to the suspension and how long did that task take? After my carb swap I just got done to the U-jounts, but I think I need to do the ones on the drive shaft as well. Bill

If you have time, do it yourself just like TBK1. Definitely resurface the flywheel, even if you think it is okay. Believe me, it is worth it since this is a lot of work and you don't want to do it again due to chatter. If you don't. you will know exactly what I mean. Pressure plate, pilot bushing and throw-out bearing. A day or 2 depending on your time and how long it takes to get the flywheel done. Bill

OT-Carl Stahlnecker Died June 16th
Wow! I didn't know him personally, but Carl knew his stuff and I learned of him many, many years ago when I wanted to rebuild my first Z. He will definitely be missed.

Sitting high in front and low in rear.
Eric, Do you have more info on Top End performance? I will try and look them up on the web. Tx, Bill

Mixture setting
No. You use the flowmeter to help adjust both the mixture and the idle screws. Then once you have the idle right, you move to high rmp ~3000 and adjust the balance screw. Do you have the tape from Ztherapy? If not, I can explain a bit more since I just went through this. Let me know. Bill

Sitting high in front and low in rear.
Yea, I need to take a closer look, but it is really obvious. A friend of mine took one look without me saying anything and the first thing he said was "man that sits high in the front". It is a 73 240. My other 73 sits pretty level like Gary said. Bill

Sitting high in front and low in rear.
I know this might be the way most guys like their women, but my car just doesn't appear to be sitting right. The front end seems to sit pretty high while the back end sits pretty low. What should I look for? Also, I will try and post a picture or 2 it that helps. Bill

Primered it!
Sweet! I am thinking about trying to do a bit of body work in preparation for the paint shop. I have never done any body work, but wanted to give it a shot. I just want to paint the exterior to make it look nice and get rid of a bit of the surface rust until I get up enough guts and have the time to do more of a restore. Is this something that can be learned or is it not recommended? I know I can sand etc, but have never worked with any body putty etc. This would be so simply fill the tiny door dings, etc. Tx, Bill

Oil & temp guage dips?
Does anyone have anymore info on this topic? Is this regulator in the gauge or outside? Also, is there a bench test that can be performed on these gauges?

Temperature Gauge
Alright. I got the gauge out and finally noticed that the face of the gauge had been pushed back into the needle. I fixed that and reinstalled and now the amp gauge is the only one that appears to be functional! I didn't even touch the fuel/amp gauge so I am puzzled as to why the fuel part of the gauge would stop working. Man, when it rains it pours. Question: There are 2 terminals on the back of the gauges w/ a jumper between them and a piece of shrink tubing over the "jumper". Does anyone know what this jumper is? Again, thanks for all the help. Bill

Temperature Gauge
Thanks for all the info. I now have the dash torn appart and it appears the gauge isn't working. Where is the best place to find a replacement? Also, I didn't play w/ it too much but how does the light connect to the back of the gauge? In other words, how do I disconnect it? Tx, Bill

Temperature Gauge
Thanks guys. I did read a bit up on this through some old posts. I tried to test the gauge by grounding the wire off the sensor, but got no action on the gauge. This lead me to believe it was a wiring of gauge issue. I am hoping it is as simple as a loose wire since it appears that the PO appears to have tried to remove the gauge as it is a bit cockeyed.

Temperature Gauge
I have a none working temp gauge in my 73 240. I have tried to test is and either the gauge is bad of the wiring is bad. What is the easiest way to remove the gauge? From the Haynes manual it appears that are a couple of nuts that hold it on from the backside. Do the gauges come out from the front of back of the dash? Also, can you really get to these gauges from the glove box or do you need hands the size of a 5yr old?Once the gauges is out I hope to do a continuity test on the wiring. Tx, Bill

Thinking of selling my 73
That is the best thing about it! A car of your own that no one else will touch.

not sure what is wrong? maybe fuel prob
Let us know what you find as I am curious.

not sure what is wrong? maybe fuel prob
So is the only solution to debris in the tank, to take it off and have it cleaned?
-
not sure what is wrong? maybe fuel prob
First off, does the fuel filter have gas in it? If not, take off the input line that feeds the bottom of the filter. Put that end in a container of fuel an crank the car. Does the fuel get sucked into the filter? If so, you might have a leak in one of your lines or connections. If not, then you might have a fuel pump issue. I just had a similar problem on my car.

Radiator Source
Excuse my ignorance, but what is MSA and how do I find them? Tx, Bill

Radiator Source
Anyone have a good source for radiators? I pulled the one out of my 73 and it appears it needs more than I thought. The local guy is telling me it might be between 300-400 to repair it. That seems sort of high to me. Tx, Bill
