4 dr rear external handles needed
Anyone got some reasonable rear external handles for a C110 240K sedan they might part with? These don't need to be anything flash just functional as they are for a mate with a competition car. Seems the rear doors have to be operational !!

my 240k coupe (possible for sale thread)
Unfortunate what some people will do. Depending on what you have in it vs what you can recover by selling, might be worth considering keeping it for parts. Some of that trim especially bright work around front and rear is both hard to find in decent shape and expensive when you do. That all looks pretty reasonable, certainly not hard to reform and polish. Bumpers look to be pretty decent, good enough to refinish. Most of the window surrounds and all the side window trim is there and pretty good. I'd try for another hardtop in better shape, even if missing trim bits & with rough interior, before selling this one.

Have a politically correct festive season ..... :o)
Hi Everyone, I wanted to send some sort of holiday greeting to my friends and colleagues, but it is difficult in today's world to know exactly what to say without offending someone. So I met with my lawyer yesterday, and on her advice I wish to say the following: Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non addictive, gender neutral celebration of the summer solstice holiday practised with the most enjoyable traditions of religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practise religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2012, but not without due respect for the calendar of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make our country great (not to imply that Australia is necessarily greater than any other country) and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee . By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/him or others and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. The wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher. Best Regards (without prejudice), Name withheld (Privacy Act)

S130 and GC110 are very similar cross members ('cradles') but not interchangeable. The S130 / GC110 brake calipers are the same but IIRC the disc hat is a different depth. Axles are OK (in a Z too), rear diff mount fits either (but not a Z). btw, compared to an R31 source, the brakes are poo.

Now don't go and spoil the fun, the other half hasn't yet got wise to the real reason!

Your car list tells me you have a VZ Holden Monaro CV8, well a detuned version anyway (aka 2005 Pontiac GTO). You'd be in 7th heaven if you had access to the stuff fitted standard to them over here, let alone the aftermarket and HSV variants

sblake - that is only correct for the soft American market engines. HSV variants have significant overlap Z train - it's actually simple enough to create a cam position sensor that one can almost do it with hand tools. Have a look at the simplicity and advantages of a 50/50 sensor in an old distributor body (which can even be lifted from a four cylinder) Hopefully FastWoman has gained enough encouragement and seen there's so many opposing opinions that she will research deeply and go for it. edit: posted this on JB's forum a while back, it should help some http://forum.jbperf.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=467 Since that post I've dumped the TechEdge WBO sensor interface and switched to a SLC/OEM from 14point7. Main reason for the change was getting rid of the analogue > digital > analogue > digital chain and go to analogue > digital with the result sent over I2C to the IO/X as a data stream for forwarding to the MS3 via CAN.

ZCON Roll Call
Steve, thanks for posting pics. 057 is soooo much more classy than the usual G-nose. As for 087 - I've seen convertible Z's before but the subtle and not so subtle detail alterations on this one put it in a class of it's own.

Umm, you might find an extra 15hp or so! Let's face it, the low compression, restrictive exhaust etc will all limit the power capability. Realistically, an engine build is very much part of the equation. Honestly, I'd consider MS3/MS3X worthwhile on even a stock engine but wouldn't expect much gain in power if the 280z injection is used without some mods. Economy would benefit some but nothing like it could with high compression etc (and lot's of cam doesn't help there). Incidentally, the option to use sequential injection becomes more significant when the engine is N/A and has a lot of cam. I ignored that, just figured the real loping idle was OK until Holden Special Vehicles Co brought out their variant of one of the LS V8's using sequential. Hmmm, decent idle yet this thing cranks out 420hp net from 5.8 litres??? Took some time getting everything else right and the L28+ still doesn't purr like a kitten but it sure is better. Even more so on the L29+ with ITBs and stupid cam profile. Oh yeah, Dave's last post is absolutely spot on!!

Re 2) what serious engineering to "retro fit"? The injectors are exactly the same parts as used in a non sequential system, the difference is entirely in the ECU and wiring. Any other suggestion is leading interested people astray.

Sounds like you're talking yourself into a second rate pile of trouble there. Forget the factory AFM, it's ancient c**p. If you really want AFM (and it does have some advantages) then think about disguising something from a late 90's BMW or Porsche. They did at least work. The comments re sequential injection obviously come from sources who have yet to use it. It does make a significant difference, particularly to idle and low throttle angles like light foot cruise. The engine is both smoother and more economical with sequential. Funny that OEM has all gone that way. The stock distributor based electronic ignition is likewise outdated technology. A good hot spark around 60mA at 50kV is easily achievable with MS3/MS3X driving the coils, that will fire an unbelievably lean mixture just like a modern car does. A feature in MS2extra and MS3 that few seem to use is fuel cut on over-run. Why have the injectors dumping fuel in when no power is required? Don't let anyone tell you the engine won't respond quickly when you get back on it 'cause it will if the rest of the tune is right (just like any very late model does!!). You need engine position sensing but why cripple that by using a known inaccurate source like the distributor? You don't need 440cc injectors unless you are planning on a 400hp+ engine. That sort of size in a road car will just make it hard to get good control at idle because the pulse width is so small with a relatively small engine capacity. Good for bragging rights though! The 250cc turbo injectors will supply a 280hp NA just fine. You do need a larger throttle body, 60mm works fine for road use, 65mm is nicer when you stand on it. Naturally, you might as well not waste the money or effort to go to a larger throttle body if you keep the restrictive AFM. Do your research, spend some time looking for sites that give solid data on stuff like injector sizing etc. It doesn't have to be exotic, it doesn't even have to look very non-standard, but it sure will work really well. If you are needing to rebuild an engine then you can very nearly equal the "modern" cars. Fit late 280ZX narrow ring flat top pistons and assemble the engine like it really matters to you that it's actually built the way the factory meant it to be. Use modern lubricants in the drive train, there's really no advantage to a "modern" drive train. Our road 260z 2+2 is set up this way, 86mm bore, works 1972 rally cam advanced 4 degrees, 10.4:1 compression, precision assembly, 280z injection manifold with 250cc injectors, GM 65mm throttle body, headers with 6xEGT & EGO, Megasquirt3 with sequential injection & EDIS ignition, Chrysler Voyager coil pack, 5 speed C/R, 3.54 gears, 185/65R14 tyres (600mm or 23.6" diameter). Gets 27mpg (converted to your gallons) on the highway, no idea around town, and will still turn the tyres happily (and doesn't get babied on the highway either). Mistakes to avoid: fitting wider tyres, fitting a rear spoiler, not fitting a front spoiler / air dam, not fitting a factory engine bay undertray, fitting a sun roof, tuning MS thinking it's a race car, failing to keep tyre pressures at the upper end of the comfort range, failing to clean / polish the car, etc

A few last stickers are proving elusive. One largish or possibly two separate smaller stickers on top of the front fenders in the blackout. A small sticker on the rear fender just behind the door. A small sticker on the rear fender just ahead of the rear corner. There's just got to be something on the rear hatch but that may have to be a guess. Fonts are unknown on some, like RITZ on the hood. It probably won't be exact but then I can't get those Enkei wheels either! Oh, and it won't be left hand drive.

I tracked down that elusive "T" ! It's a registered corporate logo / trademark of A Tabaqueira SA which is the Portuguese arm of Phillip Morris International. Makes sense it is something associated with tobacco advertising as that industry was a major sponsor of motor sport in the era. There's another possible source of archived photos to follow up.
