  1. Wow! That is a find, I am totally envious!!!
  2. By the way, only 3 were ever built, and 2 are owned by the Alfa Romeo Museo in Italy. There's no way a real DV would be towed in the open like that, a classic Alfa runs in the millions of dollars.
  3. ARNE YOU BEAT ME TO THE PUNCH!!! I knew immediately it was a Disco Volante, I am a closet Alfa fan and wannabe Ferrari owner. I also own an E-Type, so I know my historic Jags as well. After looking at it, and knowing the rarity of the Disco Volante, I would agree with your supposition that this is a replica. There aren't many DV's running around. That has to be a one-off, I am completely unaware of any Alfa replica makers around..

    Got a radio!

Arne, Did you have the original radio in your Z? If you did, are you interested in selling it? I can't stand the modern radio in my Z, and I am leaning towards a total resto, so getting a correct radio would be nice. Let me know.
  5. New file, added Doug (ZsRUSTIN).... Z VIN NUMBERS_02_17_06.xls
  6. That's a good question! I think the original point of the thread was to see which forum members had cars in close proximity vis-a-vis VIN #. It's certainly not to gather something sensitive....most of us use a board name, which is why I asked you if your friend was a member (I don't really want to put personal names down).... Certainly, the spreadsheet isn't for me...I did it more as something for this group to own/maintain.
  7. Is he on this board or should I remove the car altogether?
  8. While not normal, this seems to be a common thing amongst Zs. I used to be able to not only pull the key out, I could also open up my friend's 280, he could open up mine, etc. I had a good chuckle with the guy I bought my 240Z from when he mentioned that the car's locks didn't allow other Z owners to get into it!!!
  9. Added Zedrally's cars.... Z VIN NUMBERS_02_13_06.xls
  10. Alissa, Welcome! So Autosport Fab specializes in Z's? That's good to know, as an East Coaster myself, Z specialists are a rare breed. Love to hear how it goes!
  11. Doug, Who painted the car for you? Mine is orange, but faded BADLY. I need it redone, 918 orange. Let me know. Rich
  12. Yes, my XKE is like that...looks great from about 15 feet, but bonnet is misaligned and the engine needs some work. My 240Z looks a little shoddy, although the previous owner(s) did do some work. The underbody is CLEEEEAN!
  13. Yeah, I got nothing as well. I do know that my previous owner purchased it from someone else, but that's it. My guess is that there was at least one more owner (just a hunch) since the previous previous owner had been the one to modify it. Since it's still numbers matching tells me he was "in process" of doing something more, but that's completely an assumption. How is yours coming along? I looked at your site before I got "back into the game", and I knew I would buy another Z.
  14. I don't, but that's the kind of stuff I am interested in. You saw my post on the heritage certificates - Jaguar North America is providing me that data for my E-Type. That you know where it was originally sold is cool. I wish I could find that for my Z....
  15. 26th-Z, Just took a look at the Central Florida list and noticed a) you are a member and they had a recent run to DeLeon Springs in/near DeLand. Did you go? Interestingly, my parents retired to DeLand, so I spend time down there. My in-laws are in Longwood, and with 2 young children, we do Disney 2-3 times per year....maybe I should join the Central Florida club!! How was the Z run (if you went)? I love the breakfast at the Sugar Mill!!!!
  16. Ah, yes, I meant "officially". I know Motorex was doing it for some time and that there are some others floating around. Interesting story, I believe it was something due to Bill Gates -- you are allowed to import certain classic cars that would otherwise have not been allowed previously. The Skyline may fall under that, I know some of the others on this board have them.
  17. g72s20, OK, I kind of figured that, but wasn't sure. We don't have either 240Ks or Skylines here in the states, but the Skyline is well known by Datsun fans. Thanks for the info!
  18. Ok, just a quick analysis: Other than 26th-Z (who has 00026 and 00027), I tried to figure out who had the closest Z's AND how far apart they are geographically (for no other reason than it intrigued me). The closest in VIN #'s was Arne (HLS30-012746) and red-eye (HLS30-012762) - 16 cars apart. Geographically, they are about 1600 miles apart (Oregon to New Mexico). The next closest in VIN #'s was Zdreamer (HLS30-050713) and Fun in my Z (HLS30-050735), or 22 cars apart. Geographically, much closer at about 870 miles. Next was GlennH (HLS30-017925) and rxsleeper (HLS30-017954), or 29 cars apart. I couldn't find a location for rxsleeper, so no geographic analysis. The closest in VIN, but farthest apart geographically (at least from the first few I looked at) was deadflo (HLS30-020390) and 240ztt (HLS30-020425), or 35 cars apart. Geographically, they are 2700 miles apart (!) -- Washington to Maryland. I assumed that deadflo was in Washington State, not DC (which would of course negate my declaration), but I think that's quite interesting given the proximity of VINs to distance apart. Yes, I have too much time on my hands!
  19. Added CanTechZ and Brandy to the list Z VIN NUMBERS.xls
  20. That would help a few Z owners for sure! I know this sounds crazy, but is this possible to recreate? I mean, obviously I could go back to my previous owner, or even his local DMV, and find some data. But is there some resource? I guess it's wishful thinking, given the total amount of Z's that were made. However, I noticed on our VIN # thread, Carl Beck recognized some Z's that were purchased from IZCC owners. That's kind of a start, right? Where have you gone Mr. K?!!!!!
  21. OUCH!!! No wonder Mr. K was so upset that Ghosn was moving the factory to Tennessee. NISSAN, WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WIT' YOU???!!! There is a website on the history of Datsun/Nissan that covers some of this, but I did not think it said they destroyed records. Kind of odd, since they sold the Z in it's same basic form for 10+ years.
  22. Yep, I responded. If you can give me a price on both, that would be great.
  23. Hey guys, Dumb Yank question -- what is a 240K? Obviously an APAC region only offering, but how is it different (or is it different) from a "Skyline"?
  24. Are there any folks that import classic Skylines into the US? I recall at least one group in California.
