  1. I found one! It's similar to the '72 - I found it on a 510 site...I am mocking mine up now, will post when finished.
  2. So no one has a repro '72 window sticker?
  3. I am ok with it. I've sent photos, but we can take more when I get back from vacation.
  4. Alright, let me throw the poor guy a small lifeline. Here's a "teaser" shot. So I won't steal his thunder, this is all you'll get, but at least we know the car isn't "vaporware"
  5. Is it wrong for me to post the pics I have of the car? I have pics from a show my car was in...seeing that Rick's camera isn't working properly and all
  6. It is actually a nice car - Burgundy with a hot Rebello stroker. Rick literally lives like a block away from me. He owns 3 different Z's at the moment, but I think he must have forgotten to post the pic! (That or it's his black Z...which may have just rusted away in this shot...ok, bad joke - sorry Rick!)
  7. Yes, I am on the up and up! Ace and I have been speaking. I've always had a criteria that someone that will care for this car should be the buyer - he seems genuinely interested, and I hope we can make the deal. It's time for my car to go to a different care taker, as I have other projects. On another note - does anyone know of a car hauler that could take the car to Chicago for a reasonable amount? I've used McNutt in the past, they were great. Logistically, it's hard to get someone from Chicago to NJ and back again Edit - we spoke and he's able to get to Philly for less than $120!!! Problem is still getting to my place, etc, but we're trying to work it out.
  8. Out of curiosity - what is the charge for the service? Why not purchase a remanufactured or used head?
  9. Disagree with most of you here - just saw a Cube, and it's a damn good looking car. It's odd, yes, but really eye-catching and nice. I'd take it over a Prius or other bland hybrid for sure. What really sets it apart is the detail - the curves of the windows and the wraparound tailgate. There was some real thought to the design and it's way nicer than the Scion, et al. BTW - I own a Jag E-Type and my wife won the "picture with a Z" contest, so I think I have a decent eye All kidding aside - beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I for one like the Cube!
  10. My front end is solid - mostly all new parts. However, I have larger tires on aftermarket rims, and I get the "groove" feeling all the time. I have a front air dam too, car seems a little better at higher speeds, fights me at lower speeds. I chalked it up to the tires, as many here have noted. The comments here only reaffirm my suspicions.
  11. Great stories! Foose sounds like a great guy, I always thought highly of his work and his treatment of others. I've had my Z in general car shows and I've always gotten a strong crowd. It's amazing how many people have a memory of them. I had a guy that owns 2 Ferraris (67 330 and a 360CS), a fully restored '67 Vette, and a historic Indy Car show up at my house (in his Ford GT) to look at my Z. It was quite interesting how much he liked my car - I would have traded him on the spot!!
  12. Probably everything on this thread Seriously, I have the Jag E-type already, I love the Alfa Giulia (my daughter's name too), and my Dad (now my brother) owns the '61 Vette. The thing I want most is a Ferrari 3xx series. My preference would be either a 328 or a 360, but I would certainly love an early 308 GTB with carbs ('76 - '79). I have kicked around selling my 240 for one of those...
  13. Were there many people that came up to the car to look at it? Did you win anything? Looks like a fantastic time - that would be a dream to own a car like that and have it on the lawn with all those classics!
  14. I turned 40 in October. This is my second Z, I owned a '76 280Z back in 1986, which I drove for 3 years until I was a sophomore in college. It was a great car, and I had 3 other friends that all had similar cars (2 '77s and a '78 in my group). I was in the market for a Jag E-Type about 5 years ago, but kept losing out to higher bidders. So I decided a Z would be a fun toy, and purchased my current car. I also ended up with the E-Type, but the Z gets much more attention!
  15. I've got a similar set up in my car (4.11 R180, ZX 5-spd)...sucks for highway driving, but I can light up the rears pretty easy
  16. Another Jersey guy here, but Jersey Shore - not particularly close, but not terribly far either
  17. Pretty much the same rear as in my '66 E-Type.
  18. It's like a CNC machine with the scanner piece built in. I don't know why you wouldn't make that part out of a billet, but perhaps for authenticity or something...
  19. Don't necessarily assume ring bypass. It's certainly possible, but these cars are prone to head and / or head gaskets needing replacement. I'd start there and work "down". Do you see any visible oil weeping from the seal between head and block?
  20. As Arne pointed out, those hubcaps were available on base 280ZX's. My brother's '79 had those very same 'caps. I will be getting 280Z rims from a '77, not alloys from a ZX. These will take the hubcaps, but as Arne mentioned, the date code is mildly problematic. However, there are no immediate plans to win a Gold Medallion, so these will work fine for the time being.
  21. They're done - posted on a different board I post to.
  22. Right - the plan is to put the teardrop hubcaps on. No plans to have my car a concours car. However, I do want to appear as original. One day, I'll get the proper rims - given the price of these, it's a no brainer.
  23. I didn't realize they had a date code. That being said, my preference would be rims off of a '72, but given that these '77 rims are free, I'll take 'em.
