  1. @Terrapin Z Do you get out there often? Thanks to the others for jumping in, too. I talk to them yesterday, they're cleaning out more "stuff" so the house can go on the market this weekend, and it looks like the only parts are the transmission, carbs, and some springs, maybe a rear strut assembly with drum? I'm attaching a pic that they sent to me. I'd like to sell the parts to someone out there so the girls can have the cash and I don't have to deal with shipping, etc. Thanks again for the help. -Bill
  2. Hi all, I need some help with a car that I'm inheriting from my brother-in-law's family, the car is located in Mountlake Terrace, north of Seattle, Washington. Regrettably, by brother-in-law passed away last year, but his daughters want me to have his 240z to keep it in the family. I live in the Chicago area and I want to have it shipped here. The car hasn't run for more that 20 years, but is in very good shape and rolls easily. I'm arranging for a shipper (suggestions are welcome) but he also had some spare parts that I don't think I want to have shipped. I'm still getting details, but it looks like he had a series-1 transmission, maybe some SU carburetors, and other miscellaneous parts. I might be able to fly out and get things sorted, but if there is someone in that area who can go over to look through the parts that would help a lot. We could probably make a good deal to whoever can make it there. I'm trying to make this as easy as possible on his daughters, they're putting the house up for sale and have a lot on their hands, and minds. Please contact me at boakes@gmail.com Thanks Bill Oakes
  3. Hi All, I'm looking for as simple as possible alternator for my '73 240z race car. I know Motorsport Auto (The Z Store) has one at a reasonable price, (Motorsport! SALE! 60-Amp Alternator Upgrade Kit, 70-73 240Z - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts) which I will order it this week if I can't find another, but I'm hoping I can pick one up locally and install it right away. Anyone know what model Bosch it is that they use? Or, one that I can just bolt in with the same brackets and use one wire to the batter? Thanks Bill Oakes

Yep, that's my old beast! Would love to know how it got there, it's had a pretty rough, but fun life. Enjoy!

That right, Wayne's red machine is now mine! Wayne (and his wonderful girls) were great, trailer'd the car and spares from DC to Chicago. I flew out Friday night, we all drove back to Chicago (14 hours) Saturday and then he turned around and headed home (car and trailer-less) on Sunday. Great hospitality and great fun the whole weekend, the Z-family way. My eternal gratitude to Wayne and his whole family, I hope to make him proud. My plans are to run ITS, though this year will more likely be track days and anywhere I can get some seat time, can't make the driver's school in May so probably later in the year. I will be at the Milwaukee Mile this weekend for the Friday track day and probably run the AX. Posting some pictures now, more later - Having so much fun! -Bill
