This one has me stumped. After a few months of sitting i jumped in and started her up,fired right up (as they do),but when i tried the blinkers, the right side went, then i tried the left and it blew a fuse,so i put another in,then that one blew and no blinkers, after alot of mucking about i pulled the relay, and it smelled like it was fried. Does anyone know which relay is compatible these days, and the original "Niles" relay is like rockinghorse sheit, cant fint it anywhere. IS there anything else it could have been, would a poked relay blow a fuse then blow out its-self?? Cheers guys.
  2. I see your point on the resale, but i still wouldnt do it,again jmo. On the value of Zeds over here, take a look sometime on www.trademe.co.nz and tell me a 240z is cheap!! One on there for $14000 Even the 260z goes for around 6G,dont know how much you guys have to play with in the way of money, but in my books, that aint cheap. Hell, ive even seen ZX's sell for close to 9g......we dont use salt on our roads over here so most times they are pretty cheese free, for the most part. Even my gs31,being a jap import, its got no chassis rust or rail rust, just cosmetic stuff, caused by nissans liberal:sick: use of paint,
  3. I know what you guys mean about structural support, ive been in crashwork for nearly 20yrs...Even thought im putting the ZG flares on my Z,i just couldnt attack it with a cutting wheel to do it.Just my opinion thats all, good on those that do it,just not my cuppa.
  4. one good way to ruin the resale value and botch a good classic. Ill be finishing the ZG flares im making soon,i was thinking of running a set with a layer of CF as to make them exclusively from CF is a little fiddley to say the least.

Im making a few sets of these moulded from japanese flares off the ZG. Ill be going down the rivvet route with mine,as im finishing off a ZG replica using the white GS31 in my avitar.Ill post some pics when i get back onto making them (sorry nzeder),time has been tight lately.......pregnant wife and all
  6. Cheers for that. I have the numbers....one is GS31004811...not forgetting we have different denotations down here in NZ,same as Australia i think???
  7. oops, just realised,i forgot we in NZ cant get l28et turbos,so i keep refering to the l20et,please forgive
  8. wow,no answers, useless buggers eh. Well yes you can,get the turbo off a z31 rather than a l20et the early VG30et turbos are a better size, the l20et spools a little early so i was told.I am doing the same thing. Get the turbo, oil lines,j pipe, exhaust manifold and add an intercooler if you want. With an l20et turbo, youll get about 9psi boost, with a vg30et...no idea, just what ive read. Good luck, keep us that are interested informed as you go. Cheers and go for it!!!
  9. How would i find the build date of my JDM GS31 and the GS130?? Cheers

and thats why the 2+2 will only appreciate with age over the years,as the 2 seater guys chop em up,it only makes the 2+2 worth even more, ive only seen one 260 over here in the last 10yrs,and it was a 2 seater......
  11. makes one wonder how they get work, honestly.
  12. cheers for that Alan. NZ is pretty lame with help on previous owners and import history, just month and year of arrival and thats about it. This will make you giggle. The cars title actually says "Fairlady 2" not Z,a clerical error that you think i can have rectified easily???Not by a chinamans chance, they want me to take it to a nissan dealer and have them inspect it to make sure it is a Z and not a 2,which i ahve already explained as being an error and no fairlady 2's exist, but i cant drive it till its back on the road, and warrented for road use, catch 22. Ill see what i can do Cheers again Alan
  13. HS30H,thanks for your time in looking into this for me,i really appreciate it,very much so. Ive owned ZX's for 10yrs and now i have a Zed,the ZX is not looking as nice as it used to So in light of what you have said,id say mine is the Z-T,as it has the clock with the date format on it (rallaye?),rare so i was told, was offered $100 for it. Also, any idea on how many were exported??And is this model rarer than most other Zeds? Thanks again HS30-H
  14. wouldnt have been a hard vote for you either,by the looks of that one.Goon on ya for getting your Z there though:smoke:
  15. Hiya guys, cheers for that.I thought it was denoting extra options, like the rally clock, electric windows/mirrors and all that garb. Now all i gotta do is learn japanese Cheers HS30-H and V12
  16. Hi all,i have a GS31 JDM Fairlady Z,the white one in the avitar, and i was wondering what the C in the chassis number was. It reads on the tag C-GS31.I kno what the GS31 denotes, but not the C,id assume maybe a 2+2?? Thanks in advance.

I have no idea on the history of the ZG race cars, just that they look $^!# hot with the flares on em,if they be pueposefull or not in my case, since i have the Gnose,id be a fool to not put on the ZG flares....itd look like a cross between a citreon ds and a zed,so i was told.....cheeky bloody neighbours eh,. Cheers again for the info Jmortensen Good luck on your project also

Jmortensen,i have to disagree with you mate, its called "keeping it period".I Have a ZG replica going, not a track car or street ricer. Also with Zeds as rare as rocking horse $^!# over here (especially the gs31 as i have) id be a mullet to go cutting and rolling lips and drilling holes....been there and done that too many times,as i will be putting it back to stock one day in the future.I appreciate the comments though guys, cheers.

i figured as much, but bugger that,i aint drilling holes in my guards just for asthetics, cheers for the info.
  20. Well done Zed-heads Ill be up for one of them myself, thatll help alot of us save a little hair and much gnashing of teeth

I agree with all of the above mentioned. Ive been painting cars for too long now, almost 20yrs,and you really do want to rip all that $^!# out and see whats underneath, you may be pleasantly surprised,as usually cracks like that happen cause there was lack of prep work, the bog lifts if the dust aint blowen away and the rust just pushes the bog away from the panel in most cases,i say most cause it could be a bad patch welded in,then you may have to cut the old repair out and reweld it to last another however long. You can treat rust till the cows come home, but itll always come back,1yr...10yrs......cut it out,its a cancer and should be treated as such for our Zeds If you need any pics, just ask as i have a shipload from the present refresh im doing on my ZG-Fairlady Z

Dang they are big alright! If anyone wants some ZG replica flares new,I am in the process of making some for my ZG replica,I was lucky enough to be lent some by Nzeder (cheers buddy).Im almost ready to run some sets off in the next week, after making a set for another member I can help anyone else out that wants some. They will come in a black acrylic finish and will obviously need trimming and someone with a bit of skill to fit them flush, anchored with double-sided tape, urathane or screwed into place. Anyone interested just PM me
  23. Heres mine. 77 Fairlady ZG, JDM, GS31004811

1genzed...i think they are in the same spot, although the Fairlady Z badge is longer? ALso,im after a original Z badge for the front of mine, seen one or two 260's with a ZX "Z" badge on them, just dont look right...if you find a few, keep me in mind bro

Yeah,i was pretty lucky, considering it had been at $950 since june this year and nobody wanted it,no doubt because its a 2+2....big deal,a few inches longer and a few wider. The nose aint an original 5 piece, its only a two by a quick look, could be a three. Was well made though,i doubt its been made over here,as ive never seen one in my lifetime and doubt there would have been a market to justify someone making em. I saw the bloke at Viczcar wants $250AU for some ZG replicas.......id only pay that if they had the allen key holes like the originals, that torana SLR5000 look.If i make my own i wont go to the extreme of making them like that, ill make a few sets for the boys if anyones keen, since a crate of beer will cost a bit to send over here, just the price of freight and maybe $100 to cover materials and the labour would suffice, not in it for the money, for the preservation and rekindling interest in the younger generation, and hopefully a little respect, instead of turning them into skid machines and putting them round a post,...mind you,i cant talk, that the way my Mach 1/351 went, but it was a ford,so i wasnt too worried (sorry ford fans) I drove a good 60km today to a pullapart place and looked for a 260z i was told was there by the PO of this new Z when i picked it up,it was there, with 3 other cars on top of it and they wouldnt let me near it,due for crushing...with intact L26,badging (that i could see from 20m away) bumpers, glass and a rear louvre..i was shattered, tried to offer the maori boy there a few dozen to biff some parts over the fence later that night,. Oh how i hate the Z addiction at its worst
