Rearview Mirror Restoratiom
Bob, I've refurbished a few sets where the actual mirrors were in good condition and didn't need replacing. If yours are like that, you really don't need to remove them for the refurbishing process. However, I have several more sets where the mirrors are toast and I will need to replace them. Since they are a set, I plan to experiment with one side to see what works best and then use that method to safely remove the other side. I'll then take that piece to the glass company to have duplicates made.

Understanding Car Show rules
I'm still waiting for an answer as to why in the stock class, one dealer installed item (AC) has no points deducted, while all others do? (or do they?)

help me identify this
Yeah, I checked the radios on eBay and a 75 or 76 had the one like the 72 Z's and a 78 had the one like yours and xtce's, which is very similar to the early Series 1. Weird...seems they went back and forth with switch styles.

help me identify this
DOH!....I should have checked xtce's profile first. Would have seen he had a 77 280 and that would have narrowed the field somewhat. (Also might have helped if I had ever owned a 280. )

libre wheels
Here's someone that claims to have a (1) 14x7 Libre. http://cgi.ebay.com/Datsun-510-240Z-Roadster-2000-1600-Libra-Lebra-14x7_W0QQitemZ290085632587QQihZ019QQcategoryZ66472QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

help me identify this
It's an antenna switch for the early Series 1 radios. Looks like someone might have changed out radios and mounted the switch on the outside of the console, as they probably couldn't find any where else to put it. It doesn't quite match the pics of the NOS part I have, so my guess is it's either a very early part or maybe a switch from another Datsun or Japanese model from the same era.

Original interiors of series 1 cars
Thought I'd revisit this thread as MikeB's photo's of #237 clearly show the screws used on the door panels of the early cars.

Primadonna Z Story - 56K Part 2
I'm just blown away by the fact that the apartment complex let him fab a car on the property! Hell, when I was in an apartment, they pissed and moaned when I changed my oil. I guess they were more lenient back in the day.

?? White Interior
rdefabri Sorry, I guess I just assumed when you were talking about the quality of the other pieces that you meant they were in much better shape that the headliner, not the other way around. How about the roof supports on each side of the windshield? Is the vinyl on those white or black? If they're white, I'll stick with my previous conclusion. However if they're black, well.......your guess is as good as anybody's!

Original Keys pictures
This Series 1 lock and key set on eBay just ended with a final bid of $405.00. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-1970-240Z-NEW-LOCK-SET_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ140706QQihZ011QQitemZ320073593677QQrdZ1 The winning bidder got the door, hatch, and glove box locks, along with 2 keys. It wasn't a complete lock set, as there was no ignition switch. So......would the keys alone have reached that price or was it the combination of keys & locks?

?? White Interior
You seem a bit confused here: First - The headliner is incorrect, based on your belief that black was the dominate interior color. Second - The headliner is correct, because it would be harder to swap out than the other pieces. Third - The headliner is incorrect, due to the other pieces being of better quality. I would tend to go with the second for three reasons. It is harder for the average "do it yourself" person to replace as opposed to replacing the other pieces mentioned. Second, as time goes by, the blue, white, maroon and butterscotch interior parts got harder to find and more expensive when you can find them. And lastly, the headliner is less likely to get damaged and need replacing, unlike the other pieces. So therefore, I conclude that your interior was originally white.

My neighbor gave me this old Yale key cutter after I helped him move. Now all I need are some key blanks and a verrrrrrry steady hand!

Two weeks and nothing....Argggg
These are just a few quotes from some of the replies to mally002's opening post. It would be kinda hard for this shop to use these "issues" as an excuse/reason for their lack of work at this point, seeing as how Randys Z hasn't moved from the spot he left it 2 weeks ago. I think he has every right to be annoyed, especially since his job wasn't supposed to be a "work-in".

Found this Burago "280Z" metal die-cast at a yard sale a couple weeks ago for $5 bucks! It says 280Z all over the box and directions and even the decals, yet on the underside it has "240Z" molded in.
