  5. Hey Arne, what got me curious isn't that it has indentations or not but that it has one long indentation.
  6. Wow, what's the deal with the steering wheel? I've never seen one like that. Here's a pic (courtesy of Arne) of the early compared to the one on this car. Anybody got a clue to what's going on here?

If you take a look at the diagram that Courtsey Nissan provided to DatsunZsRule, you'll see that his set-up is stock.

Say 3 Hail Mary's, 1 Our Father and re-read chapter 13 in Wick Humbles "How to Restore Your Datsun Z Car" and all will be forgiven!
  9. Here's a solution to your problem.....it's called the "mute button". :tapemouth

Yikes! That's why I thought the BIN price of $75.00 seemed like such a good deal for the 69-70 door/hatch/glove box key that's shown in my other thread. You'd think it was far more rare.
  11. Well since (almost) anything goes in here and because I care enough to bring it up......It really irks me to hear people name the race of a person they are talking about when they are supposedly complaining about song presentation!
  12. Yeah.. I hear ya. Gotta wonder about some of the "skilled workers" out there. Ya but em books, buy em pencils, send them to school.....and all they do is BANG the teacher!
  13. Nice wheels, I've always liked those myself. Next time you have them balanced, you might want to have them put the weights on the inside of the rims. Looks better and easier to wash!

  15. Then this is one solution to your problem. A brand spank'n new one! http://cgi.ebay.com/Datsun-240z-70-78-Z-Car-Auto-Transmission-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ140016201585QQihZ004QQcategoryZ33727QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

FWIW... I used velcro to secure my dash cap many years ago. After carefully cleaning the dash, I applied one side of the velcro along the edges of the underside of the cap with weatherstrip adhesive and then did the matching surface of the dash. This method allowed for easy access and held strong for 15 years. Good luck with whatever method you use.
  17. Hi Arne, koreavet was just confirming which keys came with zhead240's 72 Z. I don't think he was suggesting that those keys were for the "early Z's". I probably helped in the confusion with my statement "Yeah, I knew the early Z's had the oval head for the ignition...snip". I knew it wasn't a true oval but didn't know the best way to describe it. "shaped more like a pennant" works for me!
  18. Your boss called......said to get your butts back to work!
  19. Yeah, I knew the early Z's had the oval head for the ignition, but since they had two keys (the other for the doors, hatch, etc.) I wasn't sure what kind of head the other key had. I know it's been posted here before since I've read several threads about the keys, just couldn't remember when I posted this eBay link. Oh well, I'm sure Carl or 26th will remind us. I knew I'd seen them here before, check out page 4, post #60 on this thread. What do y'all think..the same? http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20530&page=4&highlight=original+key
  20. Ahhh...that kind of warp. I remember helping a friend with his 83 ZX. We'd taken the ex manifold off to replace the rear stud that had broken and when we went to put the manifold back on, we realized it had warped downward as you have described. He needed the car for work the next day, so we just enlarged the stud hole with a drill bit so it could be put back on. Not the best solution, but it worked that day. We later replaced the manifold with one that wasn't warped.
  21. Don't be too afraid of the original manifold. Any good automotive machine shop can resurface it to take out the warp and at the same time sand blast the rust and remove any broken studs.
  22. Based on prices I've seen in the past the BIN price of $75.00 seems pretty good. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RARE-Datsun-240Z-1969-1970-Door-Key-Blank-OEM-NOS-NICE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ40016QQihZ004QQitemZ140016924716QQrdZ1
  23. Atta boy Ian, you're on your way to becoming a man!
  24. That's just plain rude!
