Hey... We could use that green & white one to scrape up roadkill off our roads!

Carl Beck responding to HS30-H "As usual - your replies are to statements taken out of context, or misquoted into statements I have not made. A good debate tactic, used to change the focus of the specific subject, but not very productive in terms of a discussion intended to pin down specifics and facts." Thanks Carl, I was going to point that out earlier but never got around to it. I tried to nail him down, but he just continues to dance around. Example: HS30-H's response: "You dug a hole and I just stepped over it. Be careful you don't fall in it yourself........." As you see..."not very productive in terms of a discussion intended to pin down specifics and facts."

With the exception of the RHD S30's being produced in 1969, I see nothing wrong with the other statements made by Mr. Beck that you quoted and I also see that once again you have provided no proof, either verifiably or logically, that these other statements are in anyway incorrect. As for the RHD in 69 statements, I do believe it was only recently that possible verifiable information has come forth to presumably disprove Mr. Beck and that when those statements were made by Mr. Beck, this "new" information had not yet been made public. Now, since most companies that make a product for the public have a specific market that they will target, could you kindly inform all of us in your opinion just what market Nissan was targeting for the production of the S30. Please make your argument as logically as you can, as I don't believe you or anyone else for that matter has yet to uncover any verifiable proof. Oh.. One other thing regarding the seat mount statement made by you that I quoted. Could you please explain what "normal" meant in your statement "could be unbolted and moved several cm forward of the "normal" position." Or why the Japanese market needed an option to have the seat moved forward of its "usual export position" if let's say the target market was in fact the JDM? Sorry, you never answered that and I was just curious.

    What's your idea of cheap?
  6. Well, here's my attempt at ciphering this post. :tapemouth Mike W. In Real life, have you ever sold a Z or better yet, one on E-Bay? Weeks of ineptitude, chiselers, and I did not see one family bidding or even asking a question. 4 months prior, I sold another Z with no problems, (Z-28 and '69/ no clue here. Maybe a 1969 Z-28?). On the 2nd day, the higher bidder telephones and we agreed on a price, and I told him to out bid everyone else. Days later the car was in Ohio, and paid within minutes. Experience counts, not theory and assumptions!!!!!!!!!! One more Z to go and then a parts inventory with many NOS items and dashes. On 1200 Kawaski super bikes, none there, owner one Daytona, on one, got a new Lexus sports car as a reward, Black Pearl was of no value to him hence the sale. Needless to sale not one mechanical defect is an impressive record with a ECM and dozens of vacumn hoses and AC option. Sorry, I don't even know where to begin with this paragraph! My favorite, - hyper critical people on most cars, with the exception of the COPO Camaro or Hemi Cuda.
  7. Will these work for you? If so, PM me.

A big "Yahoo" to everything you said, except this.

Well apparently the U.S. market didn't, as they weren't an easily accessable option for us, right? Hey, thanks for reminding me about the seat mounts. (Oh and yes, I was aware of the differences.) Hummm...Another accommodation for the home market?

So as not to confuse anyone.
  11. moonpup replied to Dat240ZG's post in a topic in Interior
Why then were the cars first exported to the U.S. (as opposed to Europe or elsewhere) with cabins that could easily accommodate individuals 6 ft. tall, while the home market needed and got foot rests?

  13. My older brother had a brand new Corona back in 69, that is until a semi pulled out in front of him and he smacked the rear tire behind the cab. Semi had chipped paint on the wheel and some scuffs on the tire. Toyota: Totaled! (@ 30 mph one block from home)

You would still have the option to have them powdercoated with a durable clear finish. Just have to open up that wallet a little more.
  15. It's been discussed here before. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21827&highlight=4x4

If you intend to polish the valve cover later, I wouldn't recommend sandblasting it. Even if you used a milder abrasive like glass beads, it'll be a pain in the a$$ to later polish. You'll have to use a series of rough to finer grit sandpaper to steel wool to aluminum polish in order to get rid of the rough finish left by the blasting. The easiest way would be to find a paint stripper safe for aluminum. If that doesn't work you can always sand it but you'll still need to use wet/dry sandpaper and work down starting with 600 grit to something like 1500. Good luck.

You're not alone down there. It's happening here in the U.S. also. My low milage 83 280ZX was bought by a guy who promptly shipped it off to Kuwait.

Your ad in the classifieds has 518 views. If someone was interested in your car, they would have contacted you by now. Quit spamming up the other forums with these lame attempts at "disguised ads".

Has anyone ever tried using the stock 280ZX antenna? I did a search and found no discussions on its compatability or ease/difficulty of installation. Any thoughts out there?

Is this the one you were refering to?
  22. I believe the two AEs Carl mentions are the same ones once owned by the owner of the now defunct North Freeway Datsun dealership here in Houston. He kept them on the showroom for many years and then in storage after the dealership went out of business. The zclub of houston held several concours events there and we always admired their pristine condition and low miles. (The miles then were 30 something for one and 50+ for the other!)
  23. I'd suggest Awesome Z. Get ahold of Doug Bakke and talk to him about what you would like done. Doug worked many years as one of only two Certified Nissan Master Technicians in the City of Houston and he knows his stuff. Z world IMO are more like shade tree mechanics. (not professionally trained)
  24. Yeah, I saw that car about 1 1/2 months ago. It's actually a 1st Gen 300ZX and not a 280ZX. Not worth it IMO.
  25. I've gotta agree with 240ZGL. I drove a 240 with the dealer installed AC for 15 years here in Houston. Even totally rebuilt and upgraded, it barely kept you cool. You won't be happy driving it back and forth to school. While, good low milage ones are getting harder to find, they are nowhere near as hard as finding a good rust free 240Z. (if it exists! )
