  1. Just as an FYI. In restoring my 72, I had the holes for the rubber guards and overriders welded up and then the bumpers re-chromed. Several years later, was hit in the back and my insurance co. ok'ed a new bumper. I then told them what had been done to the original one and they then paid to have the brand new bumper sent out to have the holes welded and it re-chromed like the one I had.

  3. If the insurance company has agreed to repair it, who cares what the price is, they should have to cover the cost of repairs no matter what. Unless they can source these items cheaper, it is what it is.
  4. Ahhh...so maybe he does have the original battery after all? (although I couldn't tell anyone what an original looked like, as I've never seen one... ) I also like the pic of the original positive battery cable clamp and rubber cap that Arne talked about in another thread.

Dear Mr. HS30-H, Please be informed that in this thread entitled "HLS30-00400 on CL" started by none other than myself (Mr. Moonpup), that any and all persons whom wish to contribute to it (yourself included) have both my consent & blessings to refer to said car as #400, number 400, or whatever terminology they may think of for the z car already identified as HLS30-00400. Sincerely, Mr. Moonpup

By original, is that the the original artwork that the posters are generated from or is that an original poster? (for that kind of money, I'd think it was for the actual artwork?) Here's some pics of the text on the poster.

I found this vintage Datsun poster by Salvador Dali and while it's not a 240Z, it's kind of a neat poster. Rare..not so rare, what's the story on this piece of Datsun history?

Please read post #12 :cross-eye Once again, let me try to clarify.... in post #1, I posted a link to a craigslist ad and copied the text from the person who placed the ad along with some of the pics from said ad. The only verbage from me was "Another 69 car up for grabs." PERIOD!!!
  11. Non-matching motor takes it from a collector car to a used car for me. What used cars in that shape go for in YOUR area....I haven't a clue.

Just wanted to go on record that the "text" you are responding to was part of the ad's wording by the person that listed it and has nothing to do with me.

Another 69 car up for grabs. "I am posting this for a friend. He has a 1970 Datsun 240Z. Mint condition. No rust to speak of. The only place where it is at all tender is the floor pan around the seat mounts. The engine bay and part of the underbody was greased, lathered in the stuff, years ago. This being the case, the paint is absolutely perfect underneath it. It is a 4 speed manual tranny. The build date is 11/69. The serial number for this car is HLS30-00400. There are only 86747 miles on the odometer, and with the condition, I can safely say that there is no 1 before those numbers. The car sat in a barn for the last 15 years and as such, the motor is currently stuck. Mystery Oil has been sitting in all 6 cylinders for over a month, but we just havent had time to try to turn the crank by hand. We did get the carbs unstuck and freed up nicely. The car is in great condition, it just needs a good home and someone who can impart loads of time cleaning it up. This is a piece of Nissan history that is worth saving. If you are interested, please reply to this post (I will contact my buddy with your info) and put '69 240Z Datsun' in the subject. If that is not there, I will not even bother reading it." http://nh.craigslist.org/cto/1795823768.html

On the underside of the mirror in the indented area, you'll see 2 screws. Remove those and then slide the actual mirror out the front of the casing. Once removed, you'll see another 2 screws that hold a pressure plate against the "ball" section of the mounting arm. Tighten those. Here's a pic of a set broken down.

It is the antenna switch. It was common practice back in the day when replacing the original radio with an aftermarket unit, to relocate the antenna switch and the side of the console was a popular place to put it.

From Mike B, post #3..... "Also, it is listed on zhome.com as originally being a green car."
  19. Have you tried your local Nissan dealer or Courtesy Nissan? For the life of me, I can't understand why folks don't try local & genuine first. Sure, some prices at the dealer are ridiculously high, but many are surprisingly NOT!

I found the door mech's but they don't have the attaching hardware you're looking for. Just curious, have you tried your local Nissan dealer or Courtesy Nissan? Good luck with your search.

I might have something for you. I've got 3-4 NOS door mechanisms but they're boxed up at the moment, so I'll have to hunt for them and get back to you. Meanwhile, you might see if you can change your thread title as it's a little misleading. I don't mean in a devious way, but rather that it could lessen your chances of finding door mech parts when you're asking for window parts.
  22. My intent was to suggest to you that this "thread/want ad" should've been properly posted in the classifieds section of this site and not in one of the "discussion" sections. It is afterall, just a want ad. :disappoin
  23. Paying to have used items shipped from Brisbane, Australia to Canada probably isn't the most cost effective route.
  24. It would probably be better if you "looked" for them in the "Wanted" section of the classifieds.

How could you live in Houston and NOT recognize #1 ? He is after all, last years NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and a member of the Houston Texans! I saw this post and thought, oh no, why is everyone suddenly so interested in him and did a quick search myself and found out why. The goofball got himself suspended 4 games for using performance enhancing drugs. :stupid: Who knew football players did that sort of thing! :tapemouth
