10 things we can all do...
All of my daily travels are on secondary roads, not highways. I gotta agree with Beandip about the damn phones. People should be shot. One of my favorite gripes are the people that stop 3 to 4 car lengths back at a stoplight, and then cree-e-e-e-ep up to the car in front. Damn automatic trannies. They would learn to drive if they all had a clutch.

Headlight gaskets
Any body know where I can get some new headlight gaskets? Black Dragon and MSA don't list them; and I'm almost positive Nissan won't have them. Are there any other after-market dealers that might have them? Repro's are fine.

Hole in rear valence
I'm about to send my '71 in; after 13 yrs.; for a refresh paint job and to fix some minor dings and scratches. I am curious about a hole, about 3/8 diam., in the middle of the rear valence, below the bumper. It almost looks like it could be for wires for a trailer hook-up, but there is no evidence that a hitch was ever on the car. Did they come from the factory like this, or did the PO drill it for something? If it doesn't belong, I'd just as soon have it filled in.

Manual Transmission R&R
Drain the tranny before you pull the driveshaft, unless you enjoy a large puddle of 90W oil on your garage floor.

Any interest? Matched set steel wheels, 4/71 date?
I've got some (hopefully) original steel wheels, but I'm confused about the date code stuff. Where is it found on the wheel?

510 Art Car
Sometime back, a guy at work had an early 80's Toyota painted in that 'Zubaz' pants pattern. Think tiger stripe camo, but in blues, reds, and other contrasting pairs. Fugly.

Disobedient window regulator
Just read in the paper that auto manufacturers are going to have power windows in all cars, and do away with roll-ups. I have repaired MORE than my share of power windows, but this is the first roll-up regulator I've heard of that broke. I'll trust my 35 yr. old crank windows in my 240 over any power mechanism.

Cable Holder
I've got one in nice shape, with only a bit of surface rust on it. $5.00 + shipping. ( which will probably be more than the price of the part)

starter motor compatability
I have a number of the gear-reduction type starters; believe they are from the 280ZX?; and want to find out if they will work on a L24 motor. Seems like they fit the tranny hsg., but not sure if the solenoid kicks in far enough. Also, are there any advantages to using this type of starter?

1973 240Z need advice
Try the Master Blaster in Orlando, @ 407-295-7796. He media-blasted my 71 some years back. He may laugh at you, given the extent of the rust, but he's an OK car guy. Try to find a copy of the Cruise News magazine. They cover all the shows in Fla., but they carry a LOT of advertising for services, esp. in Central Florida.

240Z Dash removal
I used a black Sharpie, and simply numbered each connector, so at reassembly, 1 went to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3, etc. Also, get a right-angle ratchet screwdriver; they have one for a few $s at any Harbor Freight or similar tool house. Mine came with a selection of bits, so you can handle any fastener. It fits fine between the W/S and dash.

What is your car's nickname?
Mine's the Rice Rocket, which I have in Kanji characters on the L/S taillight finisher.

Big Time!! ...again.
Well I made the big time again. First time was in the Readers Ride section of the old Z Car magazine; they published a shot I had sent in. Second time was when MSA used one of those photos to display the 240-Z side stripes in their catalog. Just this week, I got my latest SportZ mag, and in the letters column was my 5 yr. congratulatory letter to the publisher, and a pic I sent in of my Z at Daytona. I feel almost famous.

Old Series I Valve Cover
I thought the early oil cap had the 'elephant' logo on it. ??????????

Is there supposed to be a hole here?
I have a hole I've been curious about for a long time. It's in the rear valence, below the bumper; dead center. About 1/2" dia. I have no clue what for.

sad story
I have been showing and driving my Z to a local Wed. night cruise-in for about 14 yrs. now. never had any problems, even though i was the only 'furriner' there for a long time. Last Wed., I pull in, and see an open parking spot. I need to back up, and then pull forward to get the right angle. As I pull up, I misjudge, and just bump the rear bumper of a '64 Chevy impala that has just been finished. No damage to the Chevy (thank God), but I slightly bent the left front edge of my hood, and chipped the paint in two spots. DAMN!!!!!! Guess I'll be heading to the body shop and getting all the dings and chips fixed from the past 13 yrs. and a new paint job. Keeping the same pearl white tho.

F4W71B tranny ?
I am replacing some seals in a '72 4-speed, and have been researching my factory parts catalog. I am sure about the gasket that is between the transmission case cover (32111-E9000) and the front part of the tranny, but there is a seal that sits in there. The main shaft goes thru it. Is this referred to as the front seal, P/N 32114-E9000 (or -20100) in the parts list? The drawing kind of shows it in the middle of the tranny.

Best Long Term Storage for L24
I have an L24 on a stand in my garage, and put electrical connector dust caps in all the holes to keep bugs and small critter types out. Also good for blocking moisture.

Hood spring/pin length?
Maybe the hood stops are set too high? Back them off, then play with the latch. When the latch is OK, then bring the stops up to give a little resistance.

280z Center Caps
Yes, they had the blue centers. I am not aware that they came in any other color(s).

280z Center Caps
I have the same wheels on my 240, and the caps that came with them looked to be in about the same condition as yours. No blue plastic in the center, around the Z. The first set, I took out all the remaining plastic and painted them a dark blue. Then, after I lost one, I found out they were still available at the dealer! About $27. each, last time I bought them. P/N is 40343-P6700 Ornament-Road wheel

I lost to a Honda CRX...or did I?
Most street racing is just a matter of 'Is it worth the ticket'. These rice fools aren't worth my time or effort. I usually leave them at the light, but then do the limit and let them get caught. It also comes down to who has the biggest set of cojones.

Gas Mileage for '73 240Z
My triple Webers get 18 on the Interstate. Never calculated the in-town mileage. However, on a road trip to Atlanta, my friends 72 with the SU's got 1/3 better mileage than me. We were travelling together; if I got 12 gallons at a gas stop to fill up, he got 8.

Ebay Car-What year is it really?
I have the answer: It is without a doubt a 197??? overpriced POS. How anyone could do that to a Z is beyond me. Our legal system has severe penalties for animal cruelty. Auto cruelty anyone? It even hurts to look at that. Neglect is one thing, but....
