Motorsport Auto West Coast Nationals 2012
Got a few coming up from good ol San Diego via Escondido. Paid my fees yesterday. My plan is to go to Cars and Coffee on Saturday morning before going to the Garage Sale, then return again on Sunday for the show. My ride will not get any awards but still taking it up as a means of showing my support for bringing back the show to the street where it belongs.

10 Worst Car Names of All Time
Lame article; my favorite worst name: The Nissan S-cargo van, because the van actually looked like a snail.

Zcon 2012
Driving mine from San Diego. One of my best buds has a place in Glendale AZ so I am set. He also has a major large garage that he just buils so I have a place to shine her up too. San Diego will host 2014.

What should I do with my father in law's Z?
I choose not to clean my off-white interior, I got all new parts from Les at Classic Datsun Racing. I do however still have the original door panels, visors and headliner. I have not decided how I want to clean it yet. I might go with Mr Clean with beach spray. Thank you Carl for helping Phil register his car. My VIN is still the third from the bottom.

Motorman7(Rich) is a friend of mine and his advice was very solid. I drove that 73 from his place to the Westcoast Nationals in Motorsport Auto in Orange last year. It drove real nice, it looked awesome too. He had those flat-tops running great. Have fun and enjoy the ride.

where's Les now?-Classic Datsun really a business?
Damn he is holding out on me. I would have bought the blue headliner. I have been collecting blue parts.

What do you think this S30 is worth? 73' 240z
Thank you Carl for the interior clarification. People always would argue with about the color of the interior. I saw a Nissan interior color list and they called the color "parchment" on the page. But Biege works for me. Les at CDM is making my white panels and vinyl I bought from him beige for me. I would love to buy the car on this thread if the originator does not. Blue/Beige is my favorite combo.

What do you think this S30 is worth? 73' 240z
I have that same car and love the color combo. It always amazes me that a person like Carl eck who has great insight the the Z car market gets a "no Z I did not pay that much for my car response". Respect for the brand can never be buils if we constantly under price our cars. An unmolested car is valuable and to be honest they are becoming more and more rare. I give the guy who gets his unmolested car for under $3K a round of applause but I also agree with Mr. Beck and I think we need to help influence the market by keeping our cars prices inflated and not deflate the market place. As for the car of this thread it looks to me like the front bumper is not a 73 either. I can't see the spacers for the new 5mph bumper. If the car can be had for $5K buy it.

A chin spoiler is needed before the end of the month. I am going with Rich to MSA.

What should I do with my father in law's Z?
Phil, I too have a late 73 blue with off-white interior. A beautiful combo. The off-white sometimes called parchment was not as white as earlier cars because the materials hade to be more flame retardant. Your Pop's care is a real gem and should be reconditioned for survivor class levels. Rich (Motoman7) is a real expert on this. He would recommend you keep the the car as it is and refresh it. Cars are only original once. I would I'M Rich and get his advice if I we're in your place. Don't forget to put your car in the Z Resgister the Mr Beck maintains. My 73 is the lastest entry for a 240 in the United States, there are 2 more behind me but they are in Europe. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Choke relocation kit
I found a kit on Ebay that takes the choke off the center consol and relocates it to the top of the transmission tower. The kit came in the mail and I noticed it was from Art Stringer of Nissan Sport Mag. He did a great job with this kit, it has great instructions and is really a simple. Once I put the center back on it will look the same as it did coming from the factory but it will not break the center consol. It was mailed to me all for under $25. I will install it this week and try to take pictures; I have never had much success posting pictures on this forum in the past. So far I highly recommend this kit.

Jerry, I was up there bothering....errr...I mean talking to Aaron while he was putting the suspension under your machine. I was going to tell you that it was going to be a roller real soon but wanted to let Les have the honor when he got back. They are doing really a great job on it for you, I know you are going to love it. Regards, David
