The California DMV is a mixed bag for sure. You can call 5 different customer service reps with the same question and get 5 different answers. I think you got a good answer today and one I would agree with from my experience of registering many different cars. Good luck, I am sure you are hard will pay off. I always believe in doing it the right way. The car sounds like a great find and I am sure you will enjoy it for a long time to come.

I think cutting springs is a really bad idea. I don't know much about using Eibachs, but I do use S/T springs and they have always offered a really nice ride along with the lowered stance. I have a set of 280 S/T springs that I would highly recommend. I got an extra set available also Shox.com offers S/Ts at a great prices.

Les and Aaron do great work and they really do care about doing it right. The inspection you misssed will not be a problem. If I had the money and lack of time I would hire Les to restore my car as well. Work on your car will slow down this month because he is going to Monterey with Adam Corolla. Adam is racing the BRE roadster that Les and Aaron prepared. There is a funny carcast about this on Corolla's website....too funny. Good luck and see you in December then.

Top Gear is okay, I think Tanner carries the show. The Car Show will come around because Adam Corolla is so danm funny. Adam is carrying that show. What I think they need to do is go out and interview everyday car guys, correspond from car guy events and interrview guys who run car guy shops. I think with Adam asking the questions and interviewing it would be funny. I watch his car casts, the ones he does with Les at Classic Datsun are so funny. Adam's rant about the seat position of his Datsun Roadster was classic. I hope the Car Show films Adam when he takes his Datsun Roadster to Monterery. I hope the Car Show starts to jell and stays on.

Maybe it will be ready for the Phoenix ZCON next September.....I know it will be awesome when down.

But I am sure you will be in Phoenix next year. Good news Rich, I got a real buddy of mine who lives in Glendale AZ who has a huge place. He just finished building a huge multi-car garage on his property too. I told him that I will be bring some Z car guys out there next year...he is ready and said we can do all out prep work on the cars in the garage. No need to pay for a hotel. I have a 73 of mine stored at his place too. I hope to have the 71 widebody ready by then, it is all up to my paint and body guy.

This thread is perfect timing for me. I have all the rubber parts in Nissan bags, but also in Percision bags too. I think I will use the Percision parts for everything except the doors and rear seal. This thread is a sticky for me now. Thanks all.

I had one and did not realize that they were rare. I gave mine to Les at Classic Datsu.

I got a nice urethane one that came of our 280 with 240 bumpers. I won it at MSA 3 years ago. It is painted. The car was wrecked so therefore the airdam is for sale. It looks exactly like cozye's. It was made by kameri or something like that. It is in great condition. PM me if interested.

Loved driving the Silver car up to MSA, it is truly a fine running machine. The flat-tops performed great. My 73 with SUs and automatic has a little more up and go but your 73 looks better.

Many Z owners are just plain cheap, 510 guys used be the cheapsters but they have been replaced by Z owners. Everytime I sell one of my NOS rare parts they get sold overseas because guys here are just cheap. I appreciate what Greg and the boys at MSA are trying to do. They source their parts from amny sources and are trying to survive in a tough economic time. I pray they can stay in business. If yoy need 240 parts Les at Classic Datsun is a source too.

Z guys are just plain cheap that is all.....it used to be 510 guys that were cheap, now it is Z guys. I prefer the highest quality parts for my car and I am willing to pay for it if I need it. Factory parts first and formost than quality reproductions. If my car is beyond the way it came from the factory or modified a lot I guess any old part will do.
