I saw Carinni pick up a 57 VW beatle in LA for like $16K and drive it up to Pebble Beach and sell it at Christy's Auction for $25K or whatever his price was. A beatle? Nothing sold cheaper or more of than beatles, so I don't think Wayne is totally correct on this issue. As many east coasters do; they favor German cars to Japanese cars anyway. Wayne is looking out his east coast basis. I think if a qaulity car shows up at auction it will sell for more than $25K. Men grew up admiring and love this car and I think those that can afford it would pay a good price to own a condition 1 or 2 example. That's it, I said my piece.....we are the ones that are responsible for getting the word out and talking up the value of our cars not trying to find reasons to deflate the values. Last words: I am talking about condition 1or 2 cars or a fine resto-mod, not some of the junk I see at Cars and Coffee or Motorsport.

I think the most realistic auction house is Mecum. Mecum's hammer prices are more what a common man car collector would pay. Mecum would allow a condition 3 Z cross the block and Barrett Jackson would not. There guys in this thread that have really well done cars that would fetch over $12K to $25K. Mecum does not have the mirrors to worry about. I watch it all the time on HD theater. It is time for us to inflate the value of these cars with refreshing like Motorman does or restores like Diseazd. I think the cheap guys are keeping our beloved car value down. I bought a few cars to refresh and someday hope to send them across an aution block like Mecum at Monterey. Mark my words our Zs will someday get to be invited to a high scale car show. All originals of course.

My 78 had/has (had because the kid who got it wreaked it) 376,000 on the motor and never any fuel injection problems. Most dependable car ever.

The collector car market is still booming. There is room for more cars to be welcomed in and the 70 to 73 Z will make in. We need to continue to promote the car and set the prices, most of all we must push the cheapscapes out. The thing I hear all the time about Z guys is that they don t want to spend any money on their cars...they don t want to pay for quality parts.

I originally from the Lehigh Valley and no currently live in San Diego. My 73Z is from Springtown PA, so nice cars can be found in PA if you are willing to pay. The 71 in Reading sounds worth looking at.

Got a set of beautiful brand new door panels for it for sale in the classified section. These beauties are in the original Nissan bags with part numbers. Perfect for the restored car. Also have a nice 78 parts car with a new carpeting, center counsel and new nissan lockset including ignition....one key for all. The car had a front damage. The car has been with me since 94.

I did the skateboard thing back in the late 70s early 80s, my first board I bought used it was a G&S Warped Tail with ACS trucks and OJ wheels...loved that board. I later saved up to buy my G&S Pine Design with Tracker trucks and Kryptonic red 70s. We used to skate everywhere we could in the summers of Pennsylvania. I watched the Lords of Dogtown several weeks ago with my friend ....man did it bring back great memories. I can remember reading Skateboarder mag and thinking how cool it was to live in California. Just a side note: the beach scenes for that movie were filmed here in Imperial Beach CA, I had just retired from the Navy and was jobless so I went down to watch filming.

So let me get this straight: We are back to a street event? A street even to a Saturday which means get there early for the garage sale then have the show? I think the original event was a Saturday too. This should be interesting. The park was cool but I guess times are tough.
  12. Rich, We are really sorry to hear about the passing of your father, I was introduced to him with the story of the 70. His legacy and memory will for ever live on inbodied in that car and its story. We all are reflections of our fathers and by knowing you and your son I can tell that your dad was a great man. God Bless your family.

A big event would be awesome. Looking forward to it.
  17. I got a set of those medal emblems. Thinking of selling them since I only own 71s and 73s. I have see the value. They are new in the box. Part # 76808-E4601. In excellent condition.
  18. Nice work Rich, looking forward to seeing the finished product. I was up by your house yesterday, my daughter's 22nd birthday lunch at Stone Bistro. I really wante to call on you but had the family in tow, they don t seem to share my Z passion. They are all women, that might have something to do with it.

I think it is because they the first to arrive or a 69 that causes people to pay more for the low double digit VINs. My Vin on my 73 is one of the highest in the registry and I think that is cool. I get it....good luck to the high bidder.

I think $245 is a fair price. I still have the panels for a 76 to 78 Z, brand new still in the factory Nissan bags. Taking offers of course....ready to move them.
  21. Jim is a great guy and a pleasure to do business with. I will be ordering a set of these insolators for sure.
  22. Rich, When you want me to drop off my 73 for its refreshing? I really appreciate the wattention to detail you display. I really enjoy stopping to see the progrss as well. Happy New Year to you and your family. I hope you are able to take on another project this year.
  23. The main problem I see here that you are asking Classic Datsun for 280 interior parts and from what I understand he only deals in 240 interior parts as 280 parts are hard to come by. I just had a conversation about this the other day. The simple thing to do is give him a call and get it straight.

I have a pair of factory originals(black) in the Nissan plastic for a 280Z. PM me an offer.

The skins that Les sells at Classicdatsun are very nice and look just like the originals. They even get the fuzzy strip back on correctly.
