bought it that way....I am WAY too smart to ever break something on my otherwise original car. Let me tell you it is no joy starting an automatic without working choke cables.
In southern California that car would have ended up on Ebay, granny most likely never heard of Ebay. 510 wagons are hot in Cali. If you were ever to sell it on Ebay there is a very good chance the highest bidder will be from Cali, most likely southern California. "Enjoy the Ride".
Buy the new cables they are not that much $$$....ask JZM. I had a set that broke and cause the plastic on the consol that they were mounted to break. This is an automatic consol too....so I am going to have to come up with another way to mount the choke. The point is; don't take a chance on ruining your consol like what happened to me get new cables.
That is a beautiful car, I had a yellow one just like it but not as cherry....what a lucky grab. If you don't mind could I ask how much you paid for it and how you heard about it? I understand if you don't want to share.
I think the parts from classicdatsun.com are exactly what you are looking for. I like the price too. I am going up to Classic Datsun sometime next week to take a look at the parts. My interior is "Off" White, a color I am having a hard time grasping. So I am going to see Les at CD, he said he can help me get it clear. I will let you know what I think of the parts after I see them.
Driving up from San Diego...but my Zs are staying at home, will drive the G35 6MT instead. I know many guys from my club plan to be there. I love this show, will get there early. How about the garage sale on Saturday? I am thinking about driving up for it....but with gas prices what they are I am wondering if it is worth it. I believe I meet Ron last year at the display of the BRE cars; nice guy.
When I lived in Japan I used to love to go to NH events. I attended on in Yokohama one time, it had so many great items for Zs but I did not buy any because they were actually very expensive or just plain over priced. It was great stuff none the less. I am not sure if I call going to the different events like it "once in a lifetime" but it was fun none the less. I miss living in Japan.
