The seller is a Hybridz.com member. I saw a thread about them yesterday.

There is a guy in El Cajon CA that owns the rights to produce and sell this kit. He charges $3100 for the kit complete. So the guy that got this kit for $550 did very good. I am sure the guy at Thunder Ranch could help this guy get the parts and instructions he needs to complete the job. http://www.thunderranch.com/

San Diego....many, they still are not that rare to see here. S30s, 130s etc...
  4. Taking off the G-nose is easy. All you need is original headlight buckets, hood hinges and grill. You can go with the factory lower valance or simply put on a fiberglass aftermarket one. Piece of cake.
  5. It can work; it is all in the brackets. The brackets will have to have the holes redrilled by about a 1/2 inch so that the bumper will fit tight to the body. I am the owner of a 73 and have done it. Taking off those big heavy 73 brackets is simple. I would keep all the parts just in case for some strange reason you think about going back to the way it was. I will not but still have them just in case.

I got a set out of 71 that I am going to sell but I was only going to ask $100.00 they are in excellent condition as well; my opinion is: $250.00 is a little too much of an asking price.
  7. What is the weather forecast for tomorrow in Corona? It is raining like heck here in San Diego today. Is there any coincidence that the enagraual meeting of this club is the same night and time of the current Z Club of San Diego Holiday party? I would like to check it out but I must give my respects to the end of my beleaguered SDSU football team’s season. I have to catch Kevin O’Connell’s final game as an Aztec, so I will be out at the Q, maybe next time.

The doors panels are not 73. Nice car.
  9. I would recommend you start looking at Craig's list San Diego, LA, Phoenix AZ, etc... You might find one on ebay.
  10. Two daughters in college...enough said....
  11. I got an automatic too....it is a 3spd and it does such up some of the hp, but it was for my daugther. It would be fine if it was a 4spd automatic with overdrive. Gary(beandip) recommended a set up that would work, might look it to some day.
  12. It is a 78, my mistake I had it confused with Stacy's car. Yes that is Vic's old truck, we got it running and braking. We are currently in the middle of re-doing the interior. We do plan to contact you about hooking up a altenator. It is sure a fun little truck to drive. My friend Chico took ownership of it last summer when Vic offered it for free on this website.

73 was "off white" which is not even close to white but closer to beige. I saw a color swatch from Nissan and they called it Parchment. Les at Classic Datsun has it in both diamond, seat covers and interior plastic. I have that color in my 73.
  14. Well let me tell you I got a deal for you. My friend Dennis has a real nice 77 that he just completely redone. The car is in San Diego, ready to move and will be smog tested prior to sale. Dennis a Z car mechanic. The car is in my gallery, it is the first 3 pictures. It is right in your son's budget. My daughter is a freshman at Cal Poly Pomona as well. I bought her a Z several years ago but she does not like it because it does not have power steering. Now the car sits and she does not have one on campus. I offered the Dennis' car up to a club member who lives overseas. He is hot for another Z, not sure what is going on with that but if you are interested let me know and I will give you Dennis' phone number.

  16. I second Randy's post. The federal model has slightly different but should have all the smog pumps and what not on it. I don't want to sound like a 2 seater snob...but why a 2+2? I just don't see the long term benefit of owning one. Others here might jump me for disrespecting the 2+2. I would recommend trying to find a 75 if you like the fuel injected, for smog exemption reasons.

I can not believe the bids on this car: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-280Z-1977-DATSUN-280Z-Perfect-Condition-30000-Orig-Miles_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQihZ019QQitemZ290179125905QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW I am surprised that someone would pay $18K for a 280Z that is not a Black Pearl. Just more Ebay Maddness......

Pictures always help in these matters. Post some pictures of the car, it might be of some interest to some members on this board.
  19. I have an opinion but I always added a Z angle to my posts. Just so as to keep it Z focused. The question was asked if any president ever had a Z....my guess is no, none were cool enough to ever drive one.
  20. I agree.....talk about the House and Senate is what I thought Mike was aiming for. Our representitives do not represent us any longer. Even though I am a HUGE supporter of debate, I don't see any sense in debating the war in Iraq. I see Marines and Sailors everyday who were injured, to a man they believe in what they were doing and would do it again. Until they finish the job I will reserve my right to an opinion on this mattter. Let's stay on task on this thread, the next election will have one of the biggest effects on our lives, we need to wake up to the agenda of these people before we become the Socialist Repulic of America. Faxes, letters, E-mails and phone calls do work, if they get enough from you they will listen, remember what happen to the McCain Amnesty Bill and the Dream Act. The current Congress is at 11% approval rating one of the lowest rating in history....there is a reason for it. Mike was right on when he stated this thread. Get the Congress to the do the business the American working class.
  21. They say most politics are local; sometimes it is good to talk about them. One of our founding freedoms was the freedom to debate. Many today, don't understand that debate is important in democracy; there is this idea out there that we must take sides when it comes to politics....it is an all or nothing type attitude. In order to debate we must respect other opinions even if we disagree with it. Giving up the freedom to debate to me is one of the reasons we the people are not longer in charge of our elected officials, they are in charge of us, and it was never intended to be that way. By no longer debating amongst ourselves we end up getting taken over by the lobby groups because we no longer stand for anything except the candidate’s name. So many of us stand by silent in order to "not upset" anyone, meanwhile our rights are taken away left and right, our elected officials try to pass bills that will give rights and citizenship to people who broke into our country. Here in California there is talk about charging people with older cars more to register their cars because of course older cars pollute more. But of course we don't want to talk about politics because someone's thin skin might get broken....instead we will sit by and let our rights and Zs taken way. Politics are important to car guys, someday we will have to stand-up to keep our cars, the Green Mafia is up and coming....laugh now but remember you heard it here first.
  22. You might consider doing little editing on this post.:nervous:
  23. The problem is it is about $$$ and not about serving the country and the people who elected you. Our elected leaders owe so much to those who paid to put them where they are that they can only do the business in which they; the lobby want. We the everyday hard working American are of no concern to them, we are actually in the way. If we do not wake up soon and take the government back we will soon be living in the world that George Orwell wrote about so long ago....we are being invaded everyday and we are on track to living in a socialist republic. Moveon.org $$$ is behind the socialist movement with millions of dollars. This is not a Democrat or Republican point of view, it is a red blooded American Veteran’s point of view who belongs to one party and that is the AMERICAN Party. An American is one who believes that his country is a sovereign nation with defined and protected boarders, with an official language that is English and one culture: AMERICAN. Lose one of the triad of what is to be American you will lose your country. Datsun Zs are American culture icons; they were designed with the American buyer in mind. (My Z angle)

That was my first thought. I had a little rattle in my 73's window so I took it apart, cleaned up everything, greased up the parts that needed it and reassembled it, making sure to tighten everything real good. It worked, no more rattle.
