  1. "And my Nostalgia always-wanted was a Nissan Be-1A" Friend restored a nice little green Be-1 for a customer of his Yokohama tuner shop, it was a cool little car. The engine was tiny but powerfull with its little turbo. Nissan had so many of those one or two year cars, like the Rasheed and Figaro.
  2. Some of my favorite Japanese version names are: Gloria which always looked the same as the Laurel or the Silva for 240SX, the Cefiro had a Maxima look to it or the Cima which was a Q45 and the Primera/G20 and Teana altima looks. Some that don't have US equals are the S-cargo, Figaro and my dream car Stagea wagon. S-cargo: http://images.google.com/images?q=Nissan+S-cargo&hl=en&um=1&sa=X&oi=images&ct=title

I had the same problem with my 78Z, it turned out to be a faulty pigtail on the ignition switch. I got a new key set installed and the problem was gone. What was happening was the old pigtail was keeping the car "on" thus drawing current. It would not cause any problems as long as the car was run every day or so....but let it sit for a week forget about it, the battery was dead.

Pictures would help. I got two new 73 consoles in the original boxes but I need an early one with the dual slots for choke and acellerator, I need a new one of course I would trade a 73 for an early one. I got a brand new dual cable that I plan to use.
  5. Got in sunny and warm San Diego CA.....time to rip it open.

This thread is just in time. I am about to diassemble a 72 to be rebuilt as a widebody, G-nose, JDM street racer. The car is for my friend, he has so many brand new parts in original boxes for the rebuild he even has a brand new wire harness in the Nissan bag. He wants it painted on throughout including the underside. It will have a complete Arizona Z suspension including the Mustache bar replacement. I also will use my 73 as the go by in case I forget where stuff should be placed. I think the interior is going to be done like a IMSA car so I don't have to worry about the plastic panels. This car will have over $20K in parts and labor in it, the engine alone with the parts he has will be worth over $5K. I am excited but yet nevous about taking apart a perfectly working car....I tried to buy a nice shell a few weeks ago but fell just $36 short of the final bit price. I will catalog everything and my friend will do a webpage devoted to the project. I will also be hitting you guys up for advice at every turn.
  7. When I picked up my last car, the PO made air horns out of a cut up air box plate, a real simple but effective idea. The problem was they were being run without a screen. I have since taken them off and replaced them with a factory air box, if you want them let me know. They are nothing special, just taking up room on my garage shelf. I have the ITG, TWM set up on the shelf as well, will install it when I think the engire is worth it.
  8. Not to San Diego yet, as a matter of fact I wrote your cirrculation dept about it and got a nice response right away.
  9. Carl is right. I remember back when I left home in PA and all the things I had going and the projects I had to get rid of. I grew in Coopersburg, a Southern Lehigh class of 82 guy. I had a hot little AMX project I was doing but had to leave for a Navy career....I have not been back yet and nor will I be. I let go of that AMX(kinda of regret it sometimes, since 1970s were the rarest). What part of Lehigh County are you? As for the car, it should not be a problem selling it in parts with all the work you have done. If no one wants to pay you what it is worth whole then sell it off in parts, parts selling is profitable.
  10. 15 MPGs in a stock Automatic. I thought it was bad until I read this thread...now I KNOW it is bad. My car is running super rich. It does not help that the car only has a 3 speed automatic....and no I am not going to drop in a 5spd even thought I have one sitting around.
  11. $400 to change a fuel pump?

I got the same offer in San Diego. I got a bunch of EFI stuff that has to go. Take it off your self and save sloads of $$$. All I need is the block. The engine is sitting next to my house driving my wife crazy so the parts have to go. IM me and I will get back to you.
  13. Sounds like a great event...such short notice. Our San Diego Z Club meeting was just the other night. I will call some of my club buddies who I know would love to go to the event.
  14. A 1978 with the ugly big bumpers removed; replaced with the early European bumpers. I like the creature comforts of the later S30s. It would also be better if 78s were smog exempt.

Sorry I am not sure on this one. Mine run fine but are far from perfect. Eventually I will send a set up to Z Therapy for proper rebuilding and tuning. I will have them done up with automatic needles unless advise by ZT to do otherwise.

I got the standard needles in my L24 with a 6/2/1 header and they seem to work fine. I have set of automatic needles but have not taken the time to load them in the SUs. The bottom line answer is; they will work.

  18. My wife and I had this talk on the way home from work the other day. Street racing is stupid and dangerous, but so is driving drunk or high, driving while drowsy or even driving while old. I don't think Paris Hilton's Mercedes was taken and crushed, nor will any rich kid's car because the rich kid's daddy would have the lawyer that is on retainer take care of it. I have two young drivers in my family, both girls(18&20) and I do worry all the time about morons street racing. I got my girls a Sentra SE-R and they used to tell me idiots would try to race them all the time. I just think the gov't has crossed the line here. I don't mind if the cops find what they think are stolen parts on the cars: that they impound the vehicle and possibly auction it off. Crushing it seems kinda over the top.

I mulled it over since this was written....I am VERY over my purchase BUT, I do find new things all the time. I was going to resell the car for what I paid for plus new parts....I been watching Ebay, watching the trends and can clearly see that I can't get my $$$ back so I am keeping her. The biggest reason I want to sell is because my friend who is VERY meticulous wanted to sell me his 72 with a Chevy 383 stroker. I guess I will have to wait until next summer. I did get lucky, I got a TON of parts at my finger tips, plus a rebuilt L28, E88, E31 or N42 head. I got a great JDM header, wantanbe or SSR wheels etc....so I can get it looking and running great BUT the body is still crap, even thought it looks like it is perfect. Let say this: The pictures that my seller sent me where pictures of the car when "HE GOT IT" not when he went to sell it, in other words it was not as nice and clean anymore, not sure if he did that on purpose or not. Like the title of the thread: "Buyer beware".

No sure...all I can say is that you have very good camera skills, great pictures. I bought an automatic stock 240 for my daughter and she hated driving it because of no power steering, how do you feel about not having power steering? It is nice seeing a young lady being a Z lover.

  22. Motorsport Auto, Courtesy Nissan, Napa Autopart, your local Nissan Dealer, etc... There are plenty of options out there. One thing I noticed with my late model 78 was that few parts were 79Z parts.

MSA sells a good header. Saul of MSA was at one of our Z club meeting and he told us the way he installs the header that they sell without it it leaking. I did not take notes on what he said so you are going to have to call him and ask. He will talk to you for sure. I recently installed one of the older MSA headers which were real prone to leaks, I used a medal gasket and cooper RTV, it started to leak a week later, so I re tighted the header bolts and it seems fine again. The newer MSA headers are supposed to be less prone to leaks, they improved the flange some. I went with the older MSA header because it was free.
