  1. Hey everybody, been a member here for a little while and I've got a little one due in November. I'm not selling the Z, so the truck has got to go. Its a 2000 Nissan Frontier 4x4, V6, 5 speed manual. The truck has almost every option; cruise, power everything, sunroof, cd player, factory bug deflector, factory bed liner and factory fog lamps. It only has 65,000 miles on it. Everything works and the only thing i've noticed is the check engine light popped on a few days ago, I scanned it and it was a knock sensor code, I have a new one on order. I'm asking $8,800 for it. NADA's website says $9,100 trade in and $11,400 retail, I don't know how accurate those figures are but I looked anyway. I figured I would give you guys first dibbs on it before it gets advertised. Anyway thanks for looking and you can reach me at williamjarrell@hotmail.com or on this site as billyjarrell. p.s. how do I post pics? The attach files button doesn't do anything and the insert image button only gives me the option of a web adress. thanks in advance.
  2. I tend to agree that the PT and 300 may always be remembered, but I just can't imagine someone dragging one out of a field or a barn 25 years from now in one of those "honey, look what I found!" moments and fixing it up. (my wife knows that line). In my opinion old japanese cars in general will be the next big wave. I mean look what a corolla gt-s goes for now as opposed to 5 years ago. Also Mazda RX-3's or Toyota 2000's and just about any datsun (510, c110, Z, or roadster). I also think people will hold on to anything rare or different, someone said the WRX and the EVO, i can agree with that because they are special versions of a relatively common cars, like an SS camaro or a Cobra Mustang. Oh, and about the 80's cars mine would have to be a buick Grand National. Have you seen the prices of those things lately.

Motorsport Auto has some nice looking 17" wheels that fit these cars nicely. They also come with center caps, lug nuts, and I think some of them even come with adapters if needed. Check em out at motorsportauto.com. But since we're on the subject of wheels I'm looking for some for my Z as well, but I've got fender flares on mine and can't seem to find wheels with that deep of a dish and still keep the 4 lug bolt pattern. Has anyone here used the Z to honda adapters that modern motorsports makes? 40mm of adapter seems like a lot to me but I've got over 12" between the spring perch and inside of the rear fender. sorry for hijacking your thread but your question follows along the same lines. Thanks and hope i could help.
  4. thanks for the info, i was hoping some of the tidewater Z guys would be on here. I think it would be fun and besides it wouldn't hurt to have some help if god forbid something were to happen.

hello everyone, I'm planning on having the Z ready to roll to daytona by october, (in the body shop now) and was wondering if anyone else was driving down from the eastern Virginia area. I live in Smithfield which is a small town in tidewater (newport news, hampton, VA beach area). Anyway thought it would be cool to ride down with some other Z's. I went to the Tidewater Z car club's website but didn't see anything about it, maybe I just missed it. Anyway thanks and see ya there.

i'm with ProjectZ on this one. that is the coolest thing ever. well maybe if he did it with an L28et, that would be cooler. But still nuts!!
  7. Thanks for the input kurt and arne, I also assumed thats why he didn't give me a price on the early car, but i think if i show him 1000 to 1500 i could walk with both cars. I like what you said about having it just to have it, i mean even if i cant restore it I'd rather see another Z guy end up with it rather than see it towed to the boneyard. About the roof, which seemed to be the worst case would you think sectioning in one from another car or trying to beat out whats there? I'm a professional auto tech, but body work is a whole story.

heres the story, a guy walks into my shop and says he's got a couple of 240z's that he needs to get rid of. after talking with him for a minute it turns out one is a 1970 and one is a 1972. The next day i go check them out. The 70 is vin #00371 i'm pretty sure its a 70 because it has the vented decklid and no "Z" vent in the quarter panels. But i could be wrong. Anyway both cars have been sitting for what looks like quite a few years, but he said the 72 ran recently and needed some carb work. The roof on the 70 is caved in pretty bad, he said a goat jumped on it, he then said he thinks the 72 has had the roof repaired also because its full of bondo. As far as rust goes, neither car is as bad as you might expect and floors in the 72 even looked solid from what i could tell. Now the delima, he said he wants $500 for the 72 and wanted me to make him an offer on the 70. Now i'm a long way from being finished with my 280, but at least its a driver. On the other hand the 240s would be worth more done. I'm not sure what to do, i don't really need any more projects but it seems like a decent deal. what do you guys think? thanks.
  9. havn't named her yet, but definitely female because of her sexy curves.
  10. hey mike, thanks for the links i'm flying up to virginia this weekend to drive my Z back, wish me luck! by the way I'm defintely going to check out the Mitty this year, something I've wanted to see for a while. Also I think i'll join the georgia z car club as soon as i get settled in the new house. thanks again.

Hey guys/gals, I just moved from Smithfield VA, to Dallas Georgia about 40 miles north of atlanta. I love the roads around here, there are no hills where i'm from. Anyway are any of you around Dallas or Cartersville or Marietta. And also can anyone suggest a decent Z car or classic sports car club in my area. Oh and for those of you who might remember the last time i posted anything I sold that ugly hood i was asking about and the Z is currently in the body shop getting the treatment it deserves.

yeah I noticed it too, trying to spell M*** Air Sensor.
  14. I don't know if you've checked this or not, but on my 75 I could start it up and drive it but if I turned it off anywhere it wouldn't start again. I also noticed that the plugs were soaked in fuel and after switching them out it would run. After driving around with 3 spare sets of plugs in the car for a while, the guys at Tidewater Z determined it was the Air Flow sensor. or I guess in our case its technically a vane air meter. But anyway hope this helps.

hey thanks guys, I was checking the car over again yesterday and after pulling the dust covers up on the struts ( to check the gland nut ) i found that the left rear was leaking badly. I sure hope this does it, anyway KYB's on the way.

thanks for answering my question guys, but my 280 (this one anyway) doesn't have a sunroof. oh well, I'm glad you got yours figured out at least. If you have any suggestions that you didn't mention already I'd be happy to hear them. Thanks again.

I know this is an old post, but it just kind of "ended". I have a very similar sounding problem in my 77. If I hit a sharp bump like a pothole or the lip of a drive way or something like that it makes a terrible thump and then a kind of resonate rattle. It sounds like something is contacting the body but after searching and searching I can't figure out what. With the car on a lift I can't move any of the suspension parts with a prybar and there are new urathane mustache bar bushings installed. Did 1 bravo 6 have any luck? Anyone ever heard of a front diff mount making noise over bumps? I can't move it by hand but I know that doesn't mean its not broke. Also, I've checked the exhaust and the rear hatch both seem to be O.K. Again, sorry for dragging up ancient history but any help would be highly appreciated.
  18. hey thanks for the quick replies fellas, so what you're saying is that these scoops were installed by the dealer? Was it only in certain states or regions? and why would underhood temps be a concern on some cars and not others? P.S. the guy made me kick in an extra $50 bucks to keep the hood on it, because he said he could get $150 for it on ebay. Thanks again for the info.
  19. I just picked this car up about a week ago from a guy who claimed to be the second owner and said he knew the original owner personally. He said the car was modified in 1979. Anyway its a 76 280z and he insists the hood is some rare piece. He didn't say whether or not it came with the car or he had it put on. Anyway if its not a factory option I think the hood was made with the scoop because the hole looks stamped not just cut and he gave me a rubber gasket that appears to be custom made for the scoop. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi, i'm new to the website but not new to z cars. I have owned 4, well 3 drivers and 1 parts car. I am an auto technician from smithfield, VA. My first car was a 75 280z 2+2, then i bought a 78 280 for parts. I currently have 76 and 77 280z's. The 77 is the daily driver right now as the 76 is under construction. Anyway nice to meet all of you and look forward to seeing some really sweet Z's.
