Need help finds fuel sending unit for my 280Z
Wow, it's good to know that things still work without it; do you have A/C in the car? I think I've pretty much made up my mind to go with a new Vintage Air unit. You can get everything from the compressor to the vents for $895. There is a member on Hybrid Z who is documenting his install and it looks pretty straightforward. The cost of refurbishing this system is just too much as compared to a new system. My car is heavily modified so originality is not a factor but I feel sorry for the guys w/concours Z's. If you noticed, the Motorsport replacement piece is now different than the factory item. There might just be a niche market for someone to start rebuilding these things.

$91 is the old price before they ran out in the US. The new price is $259.95 for the ones they are importing from Japan: http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=SHC03

Need help finds fuel sending unit for my 280Z
Thanks for trying but that Parts America item is not the part I need. Motorsport Auto lists that piece as a Thermal Control Unit. The Heater Control Valve I need is mounted onto the heater housing and has a heavy copper wire that runs down to a piece with a coil that mounts next to the heater coil itself. Please keep the parts sources coming though- I really appreciate it!

Need help finds fuel sending unit for my 280Z
I just went through this whole process- tried everyone, no luck. Finally was able to get a good used one from Roger at the Z Barn; www.zbarn.com. It seems that some parts are starting to become very scarce. I am looking all over for a 1978 280Z heater control valve that does not cost $260 and have to be shipped in from Japan- no luck yet.

Do I need MSA hoses?
Boy do I know the Z Barn! I've bought a lot of stuff from Roger. He was the first person I contacted; said he would see if he had any in good condition but I haven't heard back from him yet. The search goes on...

Do I need MSA hoses?
I've seen several different terms for this piece...doesn't make the search any easier. I've been looking for a good used one as well. Hopefully one will turn up.

Do I need MSA hoses?
Thanks for the reply boostedz but they don't have it either. The part they have listed as a heater control valve (#74819) is a thermo control unit. At at $36 it's a great price but not the part I need. I need the piece that has a heavy copper wire connected near the water inlet valve that runs to another piece that has a coil(mounts by the heater core). I'll try and post a photo tonight. I would like nothing better than not paying $260 for this piece. Please let me know if you know of any other sources.

Do I need MSA hoses?
My heater control valve is shot. I searched around and the only place I could find a new replacement one is MSA. They told me that their domestic source for HCV's was depleted and they now have to import them from Japan...for $260! I ordered one but they are on back order until April. I am also checking out sources for good used ones or trying to repair my broken one. Does anyone know of a source that still has them and is not charging an arm and a leg?

Relief tip for fixing thermo control heater valve NLA
Hi larsz, I just put my name on the backorder list at MSA. They are out of them in the US and have to have them shipped in from Japan...for $260.00 now! I have been looking for options while I wait for the part (due in April) hoping to find a cheaper alternative. I'll check out my gasket tonight...I may have a question for you about the replacement gasket that worked for you. Thank$$$ for the tip!

Hello I just found out about this site from MatMan over at HybridZ and signed up! I'm in the middle of a Ferrari 250gto convertible (Velo Rossa) rebody and SBC swap on my 78 280Z. To say I've got my hands full is an understatement. I just completed subframe and other structural mods while the car was on a rotisserie and it's back on the ground with the suspension completed. I am really pumped about having another great online resource for this project. Thanks!
