The same rumour also included Mark Webber (Jaguar) moving to W-BMW making it a 3-way merry-go-round. Webber scotched the rumour of a move on his part, which means that only potential upside is that Montoya will be the cause of DC losing his drive (at last:devious: ) Can't wait for Suzuka - maybe see another Schumacher desperado move...

Oh my God, they’ve got a rally car now!!!!
Alfa: There was a 350 running lastyear - DNFd after 22 hours, d'oh! Zedrally: I don't know wwhat the WRC regs are (but I can quote MotoGP chapter and verse!) Gav: you are right and I think the colour scheme looks great. They should offer it as an option!

Oh my God, they’ve got a rally car now!!!!
I thought WRC spec was limited to 2.0 litre turbo cars...the 350 would not stand a chance in that sort of company. As a Targa contender it would be interesting... Anyone know if there will be a 350Z at this year's Bathurst 24-hour?

did the 240Z have factory option triples?
I do like the look of the optional exhaust kit - those twin pipes would look very mean!

Thankyou to both Alan and Kats for their great pictures. I have two requests: 1. Could either of you translate the writing in Alan's photo 2. What is the yellow car? Thanks (and keep up the good work!) Hayden.

Triple 45mm Webers on L28 ?
Webbers (3 of them) will help you if the rest of the engine has been suitably modified with performance in mind. Eg. performance camshaft, exhaust, cylinder head work. On their own, you will probably gain a minor maintence headache and not much else.

The rich are getting richer.....
Similar debates rage in Australia where the term "high income earners" is bandied about. What is a high income earner? Well, If you are the Australian Government, anyone earning over about $60k (AUD) is considered high. That is where our maximum marginal tax rate of 47% kicks in. Yes, my American friends, 47%!For every dollar over 60 grand, the Aussie government takes nearly half. So there may be high incom earners in Australia - and we have our share of millionaires too- but they pay a hell of a lot more tax than middle and low income earners...a fact conveniently overlooked by most commentators. Allow me to anticipate your next point - tax evasion, right? Kerry Packer, an Australian media magnate and multi millionaire put it quite well "Everyone is entitled to pay the minimum amount of tax they possibly can WITHIN THE LAW - you would be a fool not to." The point is, if you are able to structure you finances in such a way as to minimise taxes legally, the good on you! I want to earn a lot of money, but I am tarred with the brush of "high income earner". I pay high tax. How much do I have to earn before I can keep some?

Perth paint shops
Gav, I read your post and replied to it too - the bonnet looked fine in real life. ...Its not a difficult decision for me. I know those guys are running a business and time is money. A bit more money therefore will buy you a bit more time..and hopefully a quality job. The hard part is finding who to use. Sureley there is someone out there in Perth who has used a panel shop they can recommend???

The car is very straight - no evience of a major (or minor) whack in its life. I was repainted once in its life about 15 years ago in the original colour. There is an area of bad rust in the lower rear of the driver's door and smaller bubbles in the sills and the top of one guard.. but these look minor, especially when you consider that they have taken 15 years to develop. There is no rust in the floor, chassis, hatch or under the battery box. I firmly believe in getting a professional to attend to bodywork - I can handle most mechanical issues but bodywork is too important to be left to a backyard effort (IMO). When you look at your car, 90% of what you see is paint. It therefore has to be as close to perfect as possible or else you will always be apologising for imperfections on your car. Now, most panel shops love to focus on new cars - easy to repair, panels and parts readily available, not much thought or craftnvolved. Older cars demand a little patience, xperience an skill. Are you sure that the dodgy repairsyouare finding were not done by a previous owner in his garage? It is for this reason that I'm asking if anyone knows of a reputable panel shop in Perth. One happy to work carefully on an older car...

I wll soon have need of a bodyshop in Perth to attend to a few repairs and perform a repaint of my new Z. Can any Perthites out there recommend a bodyshop that is 'tame' and sympathetic to older cars? If you have a favourite you can recommend I would be interested to hear who they are... Thanks

My first day as a Z owner
thanks for the story. I can see an exerienced hand at work when you mention turning on the heater to help col the car. Most people forget that they have this 'extra radiator' when their car begins to over heat...problem is that cars often overheat on HOT days! What is a 'yellow jacket'? A type of bee or wasp?

Got one at last!
Gav, The car has the original engine and gearbox, original tan and black interior and has been repainted once in its life in the original colour. It lacks the original radio, toolkit, owner's manual and wheels. Most of these are obtainable but the wheels were (I think) added as a dealer (not factory) option at the time of sale. I am going to attempt to get the ownership history out of Vicroads today and (fingers crossed) try to get in touch with the Previous owners. To answer your question, I will restore/repair as needed to bring the car back to acceptable original condition. Not concours...as I think a true concours car cannot be driven regularly and remain in that condition...and I plan plenty of use for this car!:devious:
