Sonoma / Napa "Spirited Drive" Saturday, June 20th, 2020
People of Northern California: a couple of us have been doing a loose gathering & drive the last couple of months, and our next outing is this coming Saturday, June 20th. We meet up in Santa Rosa at Acre Coffee in Montgomery Village at 9am, and head out through some amazing roads around Sonoma and Napa. We aren't fussy about car makes- there may be Porsches and MGs with us, anyone is welcome, but obviously it's great to get a bunch of Datsuns together. Let us know if you're interested in coming and I'll get a route to you.

'77 Voltmeter not working after 280zx alternator upgrade
Steve, thanx for the help- looks like I need to pick up a voltmeter. I'll be back with more questions, I'm sure.

'77 Voltmeter not working after 280zx alternator upgrade
hey guys- thanx for the replies. yes, everything was working OK electrically before, except the alternator was not charging the battery. also, sorry, i should have mentioned that I did follow Blue's directions- as close as I could, anyway, my mechanical skills are novice- there were a few things I'm unclear on. one of them being the part highlighted in pink in the attached photo (not a photo of my alternator)- on my original alternator, that part was wired back to the harness via a green wire, whereas on the 280zx alternator, that "capsule" part is wired to the alternator itself, just as in the photo attached. so, i'm confused as to what to do with the original "capsule" part that is now unattached. do i use it, or the one that came attached to my new alternator? thanx, -g

'77 Voltmeter not working after 280zx alternator upgrade
Hi all- Just dropped in a 280zx alternator in my 77 280z. Started it up and it seems to run great, except the VOLTMETER and WINDSHIELD WIPERS do not work. The voltmeter needle is just dead, and the charge light is on, very faintly. Any ideas where i should start trouble shooting? thanx, -g

Freshly painted 77 280z
ah, that's a great color. i also really liked the San Marino Blue they had for the 350z for a while.

Freshly painted 77 280z
thanx! no rust issues, just some surface stuff, which they sanded and treated. all in, it cost me $2400- that includes door jambs, etc, as well as painting my spare hood off the car, and the stripe, which was $400 alone. I just got the car color-sanded at a local detail shop, and it looks like a much more expensive paintjob now- no more orange peel.

Decals for Z's
they're called corner-cutters or corner-rounders. also, without looking at the original decals, i can say with near 100% certainty that the typeface used originally is Helvetica. arial is a wizz-poor approximation of Helvetica brought to you by Microsoft. having said that, the stickers look great printed. the devil's in the details, tho...

Decals for Z's
Very cool. As an art director, I can't help but notice the stretched and squeezed type, which I'm sure aren't on the originals. Also an incorrect hyphenation: s/be "sum-mer."
