[72] 240 parts available
mike, i don't have all the locks out yet [glovebox, doors, hatch & ign] but they all appear to be in good shape. there's some surface rust on the ign face. the keys are like new. i haven't gotten to the heater control panel, but it looks like it's going to clean up nice. the last one i sold on ebay went for $140-but that was awhile ago.

[72] 240 parts available
hey all, just acquired a new parts car. it's a 72 240z. 40,300 actual miles. the car was purchased in taiwan by a navy serviceman, shipped back here to ny in 77 and driven in one of our winters-then parked. the oxidation process slowly did it's job and left the exterior in a decrepid state. the interior is fairly untouched. perfect dash, console, near new fuse block & cover, original working radio [i tested it last nite] and mint faceplate, heater control panel, interior panels, dome light, map light, lock set [with both original keys]. i'm slowly removing all the useable parts, then bringing them into my basement where i'll clean them up and...sell most to support my own z habit. need any parts, shoot me an email. i'd rather not ship the dash but...

new brakes & suspension updates!
just got the z down on all 4's last nite and did a quickie alignment [enuf to at least get it to the alignment shop w/o completely knocking all the tread off the new meats-yoko 235/40/17's!!]. i completely forgot about no more vacuum assist and nearly plowed thru the back of my garage. amazing the strength u can muster when absolutely necessary. anyway, got some used arizona z rear control arms, mike kelly front control arms & t/c rods and ross corrigan's big brakes all around. i had hoped to run in the auto-x this sunday but the wait at dmv to get my plates out of storage was more than 1 1/5 hours! so the 2+2 zxt will have to stand in. i should have it aligned wed next week and be able to bed in the brakes and really throw out the anchor and see how the brakes & new suspension work. oh, any tips on alignment are always appreciated. john coffey has given me some valuable input-thanks john!

new brakes & suspension updates!
hey all, just posted a few more pics. the project is coming to a close and i'm itching bad to check out the new binders. just have to bend 2 brake lines from the factory junction block to the new tilton master cylinders, bleed the masters and brakes then...drive and bed in the brakes. below is a link to my pic gallery. i went a step further than originally planned when i contacted ross corrigan at www.modern-motorsports.com. i added tilton separate master cylinders as well as a cable operated mechanical brake bias. the kit ross sold me when together without a hitch. this is probably the first time in quite awhile that i purchased something that came with all the parts i needed; bolts, washers, cotter pins, everything. it was nice for a change not to have to chase down odd parts or hardware here or there. i used his 13" vented rotors with 2 piston alum. pbr calipers up front and the 11" solid rotors with 240sx calipers in the rear. i also retained my parking brake-as this is a street car! anyway, more one i have it on the road and am able to throw out the anchor and really test the binders! http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?ppuser=1750&cat=500&thumb=1

rear disc upgrade from the bottom
this shot is more of an underside view of the disc conversion, to show the overall layout-including the control arms and turbo cv upgrade. big thanks to ross corrigan at modern-motorsports.com for all the technical help/support as well as providing a very well engineered package brake setup [even came with brake fluid and hand cleaner!]. i didn't have to chase down any bolts, clips, cotter pins-nothing!

rear disc upgrade close up
this is a closer shot of the completed disc conversion. the gray/sliver piece allows retaining of the parking brake.

new master cyl's
picked them up from a racer in n. calif. i essentially had to swap pedal boxes & modify [holes] in the firewall. the pedal box swap was a pain in the @#$! the box had been modified to allow use of the dual master's and the brake pedal modified to accept a balance bar operated remotely by a cable-allowing front-rear brake bias adjustment.

new master cyl's
my new [yet untested] tilton master cylinder setup. eliminates the vacuum booster and uses a front-rear brake bias adjuster integrated into the stock brake pedal-operated via cable inside car

rear control arms
jason, i have 2 pair-1 pair is painted and they have a large/thick washer welded where the sway bar link attaches for reinforcement [i did that 2 years ago]. the other pair is factory stock. let me know if you are interested. i'd like $30 for either pair.

side view of new front setup
the front rotors are 13", rears 11.?". front calipers are pbr 2 piston alum floating type, rears are 240zx single piston.

side view of new front setup
this is a pic of the side view of the new Modern-Motorsports front brake setup. I just finished assembling the hub with new bearings/races & seals-packed w/syn grease. this also shows the curved vanes and back view of the 2 piston floating pbr caliper.

new vs. old front brakes
this is a shot of the new vs. old rotor/caliper/strut combo. the whole setup is very well engineered and fairly easy to install [i guess for the average shadtreeer]. more pics later as the project progresses.

stub axle washer question-help
i called msa-said they'd call back...no joy. called the local dealer, said no longer available-unless i purchase the whole axle~$250. the old number was superseeded and referred to the axle assembly number. so my only alternative is to go used! bummer. i believe i have a local source.

stub axle washer question-help
hey, for all you z guru's! i'm ready to assemble my rear struts with the 280z stub axles-new bearings, seals, etc. but i don't have the copper [like] washers that go on either side of the steel spacer and between the bearings. i called the dealer, they can't get them either. anyone put them back together without the washers? any problems? any ideas? help?!?!

new brakes & suspension updates!
not a dink-we have 2 kids and my wife is a stay at home mom. i was [very] fortunate to be able to part out a 72z last year which allowed this upgrade. guess i should really thank all who purchased the parts i sold, for helping me to support my "z habit"

new brakes & suspension updates!
just added a couple new pics [link below]-still doing some cleanup, painting and pre-fitting before getting it all back together. so far, so good as everything seems to be going as planned. i've had a few questions here and there and ross from modern-motorsports.com has been great. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?ppuser=1750&cat=500&thumb=1 can't wait to get out and see how this bad boy stops!

rear struts w/modern-motorsports.com adaptor brackets
finished separating the old 240 stub axles, bearings/seals, backing plates as well as spindle pins from the lower struts. had to torch one of them-even with the pin removal tool, stripped the spindle pin threads! pic shows the modern-motorsports.com 240sx rear caliper adaptor-pretty aint it?!
