Hello, I have a 1973 Datsun 240z, I had the turn signal assembly refurbished and when reinstalling it the horn will no longer work. I noticed the copper arm on front of the assembly so when I press that on the back of the steering wheel the horn works. If I rest it on the back of the steering wheel the horn blares constantly, if I press the center of the steering wheel or not. I assume it is something simple and I am just a noob but I don't know. Any suggestions?

I had the 74-260z out the other day at night. Headlights as well as radio and heater fan on. I had to make a turn and put the blinker on and the headlights and dash lights started dimming with each blink of the turn signal, the amp gauge also dropped with every blink and the tach gauge also dropped with every blink. Is this normal or do I have an issue with something. I know the electrical system in these cars does not produce much surplus power so is this normal.

Hi guys I need some help. No power at turn signal lever its 73z manual when I picked up car it was a bare shell only, all apart, does anyone have a photo you can share of where the wires from the combo switches meet up? I have the signal switch plugged in to the right plug on the main harness of dash which looks like it's a square plug with 6 pins, but there's zero power there. And zero at the lever. There are a couple of single wires unplugged like the key buzzer wire which right now I'm not worried about. I think some of them crossover from headlight combo switch to the tsig side, but colors don't match under column. The other lights all fine, flashers and horn are working. Fuses all good. Any help appreciated.

Hi Guys! I need advice on my left rear turn signal diagnostic. The left rear turn signal quit working. All the bulbs are fine. The left front signal works fine. Both right turn signals front and rear work fine. ALL the hazards work including the left rear. BOTH rear brake lights work. HOWEVER, When the brakes are applied the left brake light goes out when the left turn signal is activated and there is no flashing signal. With the right turn signal activated and the brakes applied, the right signal flashes normally over riding the brake light. I read a couple of threads and my diagnosis is; - Turn Signal Flasher is ok - Hazard Flasher is ok - Brake over ride switch is ok I read a thread that stated the column switch as individual contacts for the front signal and rear signal. My gut tells me the switch is the culprit, in particular the rear signal contact. Thoughts? Advice? Comments? Thanks in advance!

So, I've been working on restoring a '79 280zx, and man, it's been a fight. But finally, it's running, it's ready to go, and so I thought that from here on out, it'd be all cosmetic. That is until I started testing my lights. Long story short, my right turn signal... With the lights on (parking or head), the front right turn signal will stay solid (even without the turn signal being engaged), and the rear right will flash rapidly. With the lights off, all works well, except the left side (side mounted, not the entire left side) parking light/flasher blinks as well when the right is engaged. The left side turn signals functions, no problem. Any ideas?

hey the ive never posted on here but i was hopin someone could help me out. the other day i was driving my 72 240z and i forgot to secure my battery. when i went around a corner it fell on the engine. grounded out and melted my positive terminal. I thought it was gonna have big problems. but everything still works except for my turn signals. Flick the switch up or down nothing happens. it isnt getting any power to the top two fuses on the right side. the ones that say lights L and lights R. i also changed out the flasher and still nothing. Anyone know where i should go from here?

Hello, I have picked up another '72 240Z around a month ago and have been slowly working out problems in the car, like the anoyng problem with my turn signals. My dad had a simalar problem in his 260Z a couple years back, but now I'm looking for a good solution. When I first started to tinker with it I had noticed that the Green power wire had been bypassed along with the factory flasher unit, in place was a cheeepy flasher unit with a power spliced into a random power wire. I tested the old green power wire and it had no power, wanting to drive my z I put the cheepy flasher back in. A week later I had no turn signals so I took apart the switch and cleaned the contacts and put a good dylectric greese on it aswell, still no turn signals I jiggled the dangling flasher unit and presto I've got signals again... for an hour... to take my mind off of it I removed all of my dealer installed york air conditioning system and ended up finding the perfect plug to try on the flasher unit, once again I had turn signals. Fast forward to last night I went for a drive and no turns again! I shook the flasher unit again and had signals after that. Today in my parts 240 I grabbed the factory flasher and tried its luck I got a perfect left hand turn but the right was just solid on, I had tried many combos since then and have had no luck for anything. I had noticed that my a/c fuse was a 30amp (I had thought it was a 20amp), and that ran into the flasher, was that too much for something in the turn signal system? Does the flasher unit need to be grounded for it to work? -sorry for the long description, I thought this back story could help out more. Thanks Todd
