Hi, Another bizare broblem, my left brake lights and flasher do not work anymore. this is what i tested. Bulbs OK, then I cleaned left harnest and connectors. did not solve anything. So started diag. Did a lot of looking around and figured that left feed is green and red wire and left feed is green and black. I checked in the from under dash right side there is a 3 pins connector with the green red (left) and green black (right) feeds. I jumped the brake switch (no partner to do these test) I jumped wired the feed green black to the green red left brake light where on did jump wired green black to green black right brake light where on (i presume my rear harnest is good from there) tried jumping green red feed to both sides (no luck there) test both feeds with a test light they both turn the test light on. test those feed with mutimeter both equals 12.2 volts. How can this be possible? I dont understand. Anybody have a clue? Ok did had a little drawing to explain maybe better. So test i did is under the dash i unpluged the 3 pin connector and crossed connected B to C to see the if my harness was good and actualy left brake light were bright as normal. Note also everything other lights works. backup light, and night light. Flasher do not work but i get same result if a cross connect it. electric.tif

1978 280Z manual, 2 seat. I have had a continued problem with "systems on" AKA fuel pump runs, volt charge lite on, EFI relay goes on, when Key off. I first tested all EFI (under hood right side box) relays, all OK. Check alternator which was new-OK, seat belt warning lite ON, unplugged harness, checked key switch-OK. Removed key switch harness, still got same systems showing "ON". Would run down battery in few hours as fuel pump remained running. Note even with full charge volt meter reads low (4-6) but will creep up to 12 plus over time. Charge light remains on. Finally printed blown up FMS electrical skew's, ONLY common to all this stuff, more so with ign switch unplugged from harness is the "Ignition relay" must be the issue, as only common to all according to FMS diagrams. The PN on Part, 25230-89958 below that M$ 3S-561. Saw when others went after this part Nissan dealer said rolls to B5230-W0500. I cannot find one any place, even on net. Have called local Nissan and they kind of said ho-hum not in stock etc. Does anyone know where to get one of these things and if so, what is the correct PN update? I suspect others have had same issues from what I have read, really hard to track down. is there ANY test for the part, as not yet opened it up to see if points burned etc. Suspect it is fault as for a while all was well if key shut off/on a few times, then went into 'come on 5 minutes after turning off mode, ran down battery if not checked. then finally failed as now simply runs. HELP please as ole yeller needs some road time.

Help! I need the lists collective wisdom. I drove my 260Z this morning to my kids hockey game. When I went to leave I turned the key and nothing. Dead silence. No hums, no fuel pump, no lights no radio... I cleaned the poitive terminal which looked clean except for a little corrosion on the outside of the clamp bolt. the ground looked fine and tight. Nothing chaned when I tried to start it. I tried to jump it and I had a hugh arc that melted a spot on the terminal. I came home and searched the treads and the closest I found was a "Dead Short" in a battery. So I pulled a battery from my 240z that was on a charger and installed it. Still nothing. Then the ran came and I am home again with out the Z. The Z was having a hard time with the starter each morning as it seemed to draw a lot of power to get it to start spinning. Once it spun the starter acted normally. My Z is an early 260Z with a 2.8 short block and an E31 head and MSD electronic ignition. Electric fan conversion is about the extent of electric modifications. Any ideas whoul;d be great, Thanks, JohnB Chicago
