Looking for a gas tank. My tank is leaking for the neck and at the seam. Any body no of where I can't get one fir a reasonable price? Any one know of other gas tanks that will work on a 72 240?
  2. Replacing my rear transmission seal (it's a five speed-model FS5W71B. Seal is from Motorsport Seal Part Number 32136-U0100). Old seal disintegrated upon removal. Wondering if the inner metal ring (or band) should be removed as well (possible this is part of the old seal)? (see red arrow in pic around 2 0'clock). Thanks you!
  3. Literally just bought a 1972 240z with an l24, 4 speed, r200 diff swap, dual su carbs, MSA stage 2 cams and springs, and E31 high compression head, and adjustable dump valve for decibel levels. The previous owner said that the car is just barely making too much power for the stock clutch in the car. I had to drive it home from Kansas City to where I live back in Arkansas, I immedately felt the clutch start to slip once I got about 250 miles down the road, it was either on it's way out, I burned it out (doubt is the case after owning a z33 for 6 years with stage 2 JWT clutch), or it has too much power like he had said (taken with a grain of salt). What are the chances that this is the case, and if so, what clutch should I get that would safely grab any power I might be putting down? Additionally, I notice most of the slave/master cylinders are all original on the car. Car has 88k original miles on it, what brand cylinders should I get? Any input would be appreciated as this this my first 240z. Cheers.
  4. Looking for ideas on Best steering wheel replacement options, 75 z, I want the horn to function, thinking of a 350mm diameter, thoughts?

I know the antenna mast has been covered in many threads but I have a question that is probably to simple to mention and I do not want to get it wrong because these things are irreplaceable. I want to know what stops the aerial mast when it is in the fully extended or retracted position. The end is connected to the drum using a splitpin, if the winder keeps going then would the plastic cord not snap or is it strong enough to stop the drum from turning? Like most people my mast has snapped some time back on my 1970 240z. I pulled it from the car to replace the mast with an exact NOS replacement (on Ebay about 5 years ago if your wondering). The motor in the antenna is pristine, no dust or dirt and looks almost new. I removed the old broken mast and aerial. I have then threaded the new mast into the guide and around the drum, but the hole for the split pin which holds the end of the mast to the drum is in the wrong location from where I last stopped the winder. Therefore should I fully extend the aerial and simply connect the end where the splitpin is currently located and let the winder do the rest or wind it to a set location and then connect the mast? Hope this makes sense.
