Mint condition 1979 280ZX dash, along with door panels that are in great shape. Included are the lower dash panels with courtesy lights, steering wheel, spare tire cover, center air conditioner vents, radio mount, fuse box cover. Zero cracks. A rare find, with analog Quartz clock, chrome trimmed door pockets, cigar lighter, stereo surround adjuster. Wiring harness is intact, and complete. Both defroster ducts included, pictures only show the one, but both are included. Door panels are in great shape, solid with no tears. Spare tire cover has a few blemishes, but is very acceptable. Discoloration in pictures of dash and A/C vents is cleaner that was drying. Right side lower dash panel with courtesy light was drilled for alarm system, but is not seen when mounted since its on the bottom of the panel, vacuum selector switch on left panel is also intact. Give me a reasonable offer for all.

Has anyone had recent success finding suitable replacements for '78 steering pinion bearings? Prior forum entries on this topic discuss replacing the obsolete Nissan bearing with one that is 1MM thinner & using a spacer to fill the gap. No problem. However I have been unable to find an angular contact bearing with the correct ID and OD, much less sealed on one side like the original. Thanks.

I've seen 2 different "complete" electric power steering kits advertised. One claims it is adjustable and costs $1500.00, $600.00 more that n the other. The other kit sells for $900.00 and claims its very easy to install. Claims everything can be installed in a few hours after old column, etc. is removed. Does anyone have any experience with these kits they can share?

Unicorn: a mythical animal typically represented as a horse with a single straight horn projecting from its forehead. Alt.: a rare Datsun part, usually made of unobtanium. I took this rubber steering coupler from a 12/71 parts car recently. Its in amazing condition - the rubber is flexible and lively, NO CRACKS or other damage, no signs of aging, bolts/nuts are in perfect condition - no thread damage. I've used a wire wheel on the plates and bolts to remove rust, bathed everything in Metal Ready. I'd throw a coat of black paint on the plates but its too cold to paint right now. Offering it here to fellow enthusiasts before listing on any classifieds or eBay. Priced at $40, includes USPS Flat Rate Priority shipping.

Ok, I'm feeling like an idiot here, I'm replacing my front shocks and a number of suspension bushings on my '73 240z and I keep finding references to strut mount bearings that I don't seem to have. Could somebody post a picture of how everything goes together at the top of the front struts? I have a sinking suspicion that whoever did this job last just left the damn things out. Pictures would help me see either where I ought to be looking if I'm massively overlooking things, or where new ones ought to go when I put this thing together correctly. edit: photo of where I think it might supposed to be?

I just got my baby back from the body shop, and it's beautiful, but after 7 months of not driving it, i was given a strong reminder of just how rough it rides and steers. I know now that i should have done the suspension before the body, but this is my first project and i'm learning along the way. What i'd like to know is, where do i go from here? I don't want (and can't afford) anything really fancy, i just want it to feel smoother. There's a lot of vibration in the front of the car, and the steering wheel shakes like mad when i get up to about 60mph. i got a poly bushing kit and i replaced the steering rack bushings and the column coupler, but that didn't change anything, it still shakes. The strange thing is, the shaking is sort of intermittent. Most of the time, at high speed, it shakes badly enough to make my arms numb, but then occasionally, it will barely shake at all. I thought at first that it was just from driving on different surfaces, but then i noted the intermittence while on the same stretch of highway. Thoughts? Either way, what's the first thing i should do on a suspension that hasn't ever been touched?

Hey guys-- Just bought a 1982 280zx and working diligently to restore it! I have a little issue that maybe somebody here has dealt with before. I'm trying to replace the Power Steering Rack but one of the power steering fluid lines (metal with bolt-like head) has a bolt that is worn down to the point where a wrench cannot grab it successfully! Any thoughts on how to remove it? Or should I scrap it for another line? Thanks!!
