If you have a Series II 240, then you won't have to switch hardly anything at all. Maybe check out the dimension from tranny tailshaft to diff. flange. But I don't think you'll have any problems.

If you have a Series I 240, then you'll probably end up swapping consoles, driveshaft, & tranny mount.

Other than these things, it's a bolt up swap that takes no more time than pulling/installing the stock tranny.

Seems like the outcome is an '83 box should fit but you'll have to bend the gear shift lever whereas a '78-'81 box doesn't.
