kats Posted April 27, 2004 Author Share #63 Posted April 27, 2004 mdbrandy,Yes, the sign on the tapet cover is Mr.Matsuo's.And Mr.Katayama also singed next to him,but it is fading almost disapearing. They signed in Feb 2000 during visiting to the factory"ULTIMATE".My Z was under restoration, the shop owner TETSU intorduced my Z's engine to Mr.Matsuo and Mr.Katayama.gema,When you come to Tokyo, please let me know. Are you studying at an university? I can imagine your pain for apart from your Z.dadds,Thank you,I have known Mike McGinnis since 2000.Yes he is a great parts surplyer and his products are very impressive.I bought some from him.I was wondering why "vintege Z proguram"ended very short period. They ununced they would produce 200 restored 240Z cars at the beginig. At least 5 vintege 240Z cars were sold to japanese owners.#1 a red 1970 240Z(date 01/70 vin some 600s I forgot, still selling aprox. $5300 U.S.!!)#2 a gold 1970 240Z(date 04/70 vin some 3000s I forgot)#3 a silver 1970 240Z(did not check vin) #4 a silver 1970 240Z(only saw in a magazine)#5 a blue 1972 240z(only saw in a magazine) kats Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/10354-hose-clamps/?page=6#findComment-78716 Share on other sites

kats Posted April 27, 2004 Author Share #65 Posted April 27, 2004 Joseph, Thank you for hose information, this summer vacation I will trip to somewhere, Hawaii or Canada or Australia. It depens on how much my wife and kids are interested in visiting. If we go to AUS,I will see auto parts surplyer and see those braided hoses. billramsey2002, I have done replacement for all clamps including fuel "rare"clamps. Thank you, but I do not need to get extra right now. The old ones which you can sell are for fuel tubes? Like this? Please see this photo.I cleaned them then applyed for fuel tubes. kats Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/10354-hose-clamps/?page=6#findComment-78721 Share on other sites
kats Posted April 27, 2004 Author Share #66 Posted April 27, 2004 Andrew, Thank you information,I want to see the web.BTW,I won the ebay for 1970 bridgestone 175SR14!!It is just a begining,I have to collect at least 3 tires more(I wish 4 more for complete) If feasible, please show me yours some day. Ben, I am also wondering when nissan went to rubber hoses.I was surprised a week ago,I ordered some hoses telling them 1970 parts number, some are rubber ones came out but a few cloth-braided ones came out. They still do reproduction of braided hoses. And I am also wondering original 240Z is equipped braided hoses for all the hoses?I will say NO,to see engine room,I think only 2 hoses for emission contorol system(air pomp)are not braided ones. I bought these 2 new air pomp hoses last year, and I was thinking these might be braided type. But I checked 1970 service manual, there is a photo focusing on emission systems and I can see the hose is not braided one.Looks same as I bought last year. What do you all think of it? kats Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/10354-hose-clamps/?page=6#findComment-78723 Share on other sites
abas Posted April 27, 2004 Share #67 Posted April 27, 2004 Kats here is the link for the blue braided hose. http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/pages/sbv_pn.asp?PartNo=VHO10B&LineNo=248071000I have ordered some of this hose and will post comparison pictures with an oem hose when it arrives.Apologies for the time taken re 1970 tyre I will get to it soon. It will not be sold to any one else:classic: Out of interest how many of the 1970 fuel hose clamps are there on your car. I reckon it should be about 10 in total. I only have 2 on mine, the rest have been replaced with modern ones.regardsAndrew Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/10354-hose-clamps/?page=6#findComment-78724 Share on other sites
NCLarry Posted April 27, 2004 Share #68 Posted April 27, 2004 Kats,For cleaning up of the clamps, did you use a rock-tumbler with sand or just hand clean?I've pulled most off my 71... bad rust condition (will post pics) and several bolts snapped (couldn't remove even after soaking in cup of penetrant).I likely won't use them as I doubt I'll go a full restore (too costly).I'd rather clean them up and perhaps use (decide later). kats Posted April 28, 2004 Author Share #69 Posted April 28, 2004 Hi abas,No problem about tire, please take your time.I agree with you I need about 10 fuel clamps.I only have 7 now,I want 3 or more.Hi Northern NJ Larry,I use a metal brash with a machine, will post the photo soon. The shop owner Mr.Fukumto let me use the machine.I use it for almost every nuts and bolts and small parts.Thank youkats Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/10354-hose-clamps/?page=6#findComment-78872 Share on other sites
240 in OZ Posted April 28, 2004 Share #70 Posted April 28, 2004 KatsHow do you get the clamps to maintain their appearance after cleaning them with a wire type brush? Every nut and bolt that I clean up with a brush is tarnished a few days later!RegardsJoseph Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/10354-hose-clamps/?page=6#findComment-78905 Share on other sites
kats Posted May 9, 2004 Author Share #71 Posted May 9, 2004 Hi Joseph,After I brashed clamp,I used grease for it.Put grease just a little on a cloth then rub the clamp.I think I have to do it again in some good interval otherwise it will get rust!Today I show you the "next"unique clamp. It is on the brake reservoir cylinder. Please look at this http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz240zsports/diy.htmlThe photo is located at the bottom of its page.kats Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/10354-hose-clamps/?page=6#findComment-80330 Share on other sites
240 in OZ Posted May 11, 2004 Share #72 Posted May 11, 2004 Hey KatsThanks for the information re keeping the newly cleaned parts shiny. The hose clamps you have on the hoses that run over the top of the carb chambers are interesting, are these original or have you just installed them for looks?RegardsJoseph Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/10354-hose-clamps/?page=6#findComment-80487 Share on other sites
