sblake01 Posted March 9, 2004 Share #61 Posted March 9, 2004 daddz, I really can't break the music down by the car I'm driving. The car isn't listening to it, I am. Since I was born in 1950, my musical influence would be basically the 60s and 70s. I like pretty much anything from those eras. I get somewhat selective when you start talking about music from the 80s, 90s, and 2K. I don't like rap/hip hop or anything that even resembles it. Drinking and driving or for that matter drinking alcohol at all has no appeal to me. (The 'Deacon Blues' comment) But back to the original statement, remember this was about a car that hit the scene at the onset of the 70s. symon Posted March 9, 2004 Share #62 Posted March 9, 2004 Hi Guys,I´ve got a MP3 cd player in my Z so I´ve got loads in music available. My current favorites for acompanying me in my Z are : -Police, Bob Marley, Santana, Men at Work ( remember the guys "with a fried out combi"?, Amr Diab ( a fab Egyptian singer songwriter), Mecano & Hande Yener ( the most sexy singer in the world ).Ok that my 2 cents worth. daddz Posted March 9, 2004 Share #63 Posted March 9, 2004 sblake01, All the kids are doin' it? (sarcasm) As far as drinking alcohol in general (not in the car as that has become too expensive and too dangerous) I don't mind a good whiskey sour or cold beer but, that's a personal decision. I realize the car isn't listening to the music; I just choose to listen to different types of music no matter the car's production date. In order to assimilate what was happening at the time your Z (fill in your year here) was produced can be interesting in terms of getting a perspective. It is sort of like looking at a scrapbook and trying to make sense of what came before. For example, if one happens to be sitting in a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette and you wanted to imagine what might have been emanating from the car's radio at that time you may choose to listen to something by the Beach Boys or Dave Brubek (if that happens to be your thing). Unfortunately, most of the time we here in Washington, D.C. have to subject ourselves to the bland homogenized corporate crap radio stations that seem to cover the country nowadays. At least there's NPR and the local jazz station that plays good Blues on Saturdays. Oh and I forgot to mention the "Repo Man" soundtrack and Warren Zevon's "Send Lawyers Guns and Money". sblake01 Posted March 10, 2004 Share #64 Posted March 10, 2004 daddz, I just can't break it down that way. What I like to listen to doesn't change because I'm in a Vette or a Z or a pickup truck. I don't need to assimilate what was happening then, I was there! I would enjoy Burbeck (Paul Desmond) in a 350z as much as I would in a Duesenberg. But I wouldn't enjoy 50cent in either. TomoHawk Posted March 10, 2004 Share #66 Posted March 10, 2004 I've been putting my list together from this topic and a list of top-40 hits from 1978 and I find that I have95% of the songs! thank you Time-Life collection...But I also find out I don't don't have CDs for some of the records we had back then. May be time for some shopping over at BMG (11 CDs for the "price of 1"). gema Posted March 10, 2004 Author Share #68 Posted March 10, 2004 Heeheeheee....I started a popular thread. Go me! On that note, I'm loving the suggestions, keep 'em coming...going to be buying quite a few albums/cds/collections and putting them on a few CDs of mp3's so I can always jam accordingly in my 240z. Jimbeaux Posted March 10, 2004 Share #69 Posted March 10, 2004 Oh and I forgot to mention the "Repo Man" soundtrack and Warren Zevon's "Send Lawyers Guns and Money". My 72 240 is named Warren Z. I believe I have an original release of all his vinyl and a copy of everything on CD. May he rest in peace or as he would say "I'll Sleep when I'm Dead" Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/10417-z-music/?page=6#findComment-72067 Share on other sites
