Guess it depends :) They are a 4 bolt bracket, so if you are taking them off of a car, yes you will.

What I did to put them on the car was cut out the lower back bolt area so that it would fit around the hub. All of the after market ones are 3 bolt so I didn't see any reason that these wouldn't work properly as 3 bolt also. They are 1/2" thick steel held on by large bolts so 3 should be enough. If 2 bolts are enough to hold the caliper on, 3 on the bracket should be more than enough, if you see what I mean...

I didn't want to go through pulling the stub axles so I did it that way.


So that no one gets led astray when boneyard shopping, the 1981 - 84 Maxima is "rear wheel" drive.

Also, be aware that the majority of these cars have welded on brackets. I am presently experimenting with cutting the welds, just to see if it will work. Seems to me a narrow bead on the top and bottom only.

Also the 240SX calipers work with these brackets as well.

Yes the stub axles have to be pulled, no it isn't that big a deal with the proper tools.

You guys are right about going to the bone yard for these brackets and the effort to remove them......just buy new ones! While you have the stub axles out, replace those old bearings and seals....you know you need to do it!!!

I think the use of the 240SX rear calipers is best because the ZX calipers won't work right with the e-brake cable.

I agree Lance, with a little rerouting the e-brake hooks up fine. One practical reasons to use the ZX calipers, front/rear, and 15/16" master cylinder, is that no proportioning valve is required, to have a well balanced street set-up.

After looking at the links TomoHawk posted, it appears that the 240SX and 280ZXT calipers are the same units.....could be wrong but it wouldn't surprise me that Nissan used the same caliper for both applications. Anyone care to elaborate on this info?

The 1979 ZX mastercylinder (15/16ths) is only 39.99 rebuilt at Autozone. I checked Pepboys and Advance, as well, Autozone was best on the Toyota 4Runner Calipers (vented Rotor) as well, 39.99 appx.

Pepboys was best for rotors, about 24.99 or 29.99 new, I think they were Raybestos. I bought bothe the 300ZX front ventilated and rear solid rotors. The Zx rear rotors were the same. Used rotors within spec make sense, the mastercylinder is questionable. They tend to build up moisture and corrosion while sitting.

So I bought a 240Z with the Modern Motorsports rear disc kit with the 240sx calipers. From your shortcuts I noticed you had to grind on the caliper. I was hoping to avoid that, anybody know if the MSA Racer 17"x7" wheels will fit this package without interference.
