Bill560 Posted April 26, 2004 Share #1 Posted April 26, 2004 This is my first Z car and it's a 1976 280Z auto (aka Slow) with A/C. What kind of performance mods are out there for this car short of swapping the tranny? Just looking for a starting point that others have been too. This will be a street driven car only for the spring and summer months, so power and speed is the goal. Victor Laury Posted May 3, 2004 Share #4 Posted May 3, 2004 Bill, There's nothing slow about 76 280Z. Tune it up first. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/11441-1976-zs/#findComment-79423 Share on other sites

v12horse Posted May 4, 2004 Share #6 Posted May 4, 2004 Oh no, why did you sell an evo 8. That is sacrilege. I would love to drive an evo 8. If I were to buy a new car it would be hard to choose between an evo mr and a sti. They are both great cars. Yes, I am a WRC nut. Good luck with souping up the 76. Get a tune up like Victor said, then change the automatic to a 5 speed. Mr Camouflage Posted May 4, 2004 Share #7 Posted May 4, 2004 IIIV isnt a correct roman numeral, and even if it was it would equal 2. VIII = 8so what sort of evo was it? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/11441-1976-zs/#findComment-79538 Share on other sites
v12horse Posted May 4, 2004 Share #8 Posted May 4, 2004 I am pretty sure it was an evo VIII, also known as the evo 8. We never got another evo on these shores. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/11441-1976-zs/#findComment-79551 Share on other sites

Would you please check my spelling from time to time also? Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/11441-1976-zs/#findComment-79595 Share on other sites

v12horse Posted May 4, 2004 Share #11 Posted May 4, 2004 A radio is an option in the STI. They are both beautiful. My neighbor has a blue STI and it looks great. I am a little disgusted with the rice rocket tail pipe and the fog lights he put on it, but it still a nice car. The evo has a certain look of all business that I like because to me it looks like a fighter jet; if a fighter jet was a car that is. However, the Z is a better choice. Enjoy it. :classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/11441-1976-zs/#findComment-79604 Share on other sites
