CCC77 Posted April 26, 2004 Share #1 Posted April 26, 2004 I have a 82 280ZX that I am taking parts off of before I tow it away to the scrap yard. The rear brakes are like new. What is involved in putting these on my 77 280z?thanks in advanceCCC77 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/11443-putting-82-rear-discc-on-a-77/ Share on other sites

CCC77 Posted April 26, 2004 Author Share #3 Posted April 26, 2004 Thanks I did search the info there. I see that people say the rear disc's from a 280zx are pretty wimpy. Is it possible to put the front disks from the 280zx on the rear of the 280x? LanceM Posted April 26, 2004 Share #4 Posted April 26, 2004 I think that unless you are racing the rear disk from a ZX will be an improvement over drums. To mount them you need brackets from a Maxima, the part number I believe is 44155-04S10, I just got two from the dealer, $52 each. If you do the swap also take the proporing valve from the ZX, the front disks can work on the earlier cars also giving you vented front disks that will fit under 14" wheels. The set up I have on my 240 is 81 zx fronts with 300zx rotors turned down about 1/4" in diameter, 82 turbo rear calipers with 82 disks and maxima brackets. Works well and I am very happy with the conversion, also put in the larger MC from the ZX. Dreco Posted April 27, 2004 Share #7 Posted April 27, 2004 Another option is to use this kit from www.modern-motorsports.com I am pleased with this kit. the 240sx calipers have more surface area, and are more obtainable. You do however need to have at least 15" rims. The kit comes with 1984 300ZX 4 bolt brembo rotors.
