Hello, a lot of the parts will transfer from right hand drive to left hand drive, but exhausts are what you have to watch out for. A lot of exhaust systems for RHD cars will not work with the LHD cars without modifications. I agree with you, the Japanese parts are very cool. RS Start has a lot of parts for the S20 engine, so unless you have one they are not going to fit on your L-series. You should list the parts that you are thinking of getting for your car and more members of the forum and I can give you a little better idea of what will and won't work on your car. I can tell you that almost all the parts are interchangeable though, so you can have one JDM LHD S30.

Well, actually I don't even have a Z car yet! :stupid: I'm just one of those guys who likes to research things to death before I jump in.

Just wanted to know how "customizable" a Z car could be. I think the Japanese manufacturers have a lot of top-quality stuff (at least from my experience with Honda parts). It seems that MSA is one of the few places here in the States that produces aftermarket go-fast goodies for the Z. That's one reason I was searching the web for Japanese parts suppliers.

Too bad about the exhaust systems though. In my lurking here on the boards, I've heard some good things about those systems.

Those parts are making me drool! I find it hard to believe we can't get them locally. I'm sure shipping charges from overseas would be too much to justify the purchasing from them. Does anyone out there know if some of these parts are available locally (especially those beautiful coil over conversions). I've seen a tokico setup on ebay, but the ones offered at the overseas site seem like they may be better quality. And what about those headers! My z fever just jumped up a few degrees!

Hmmm...lots of people want cool Japanese Z parts, but don't want to pay overseas shipping. I live in Hawaii, halfway there...hmmm...maybe I should've gotten a degree in international business...

Datsun, I think should be pronounced "Dai Tsun" in Japanese. Don't ask me what it means. Although, I know that Mazda is actually Matsuta, a family name. Subaru is the Japanese name for the Pleiades constellation. Sony is actually "Sonii."

Anyway, back to the parts. Well, if you guys want to see what the cost would be for the parts, here's a handy little currency converter. Currency Converter I figure, hey...the best parts for American V8's come from America. The best parts for flat aircooled 6's come Germany. The best parts for Nissan inline 6's must come from...Japan. ??

Just my thoughts. There's got to be a way to get that stuff over here (U.S.). It must be easier to get it down in Oz...right?

It's cheaper to get this stuff to Australia than America, I would have thought. But then because of our currency I can't imagine it would end up being too much cheaper relatively.

Still, that is the price of love!

btw, not sure how often that currency converter is updated, but I know www.xe.com is updated live, and from Australia much faster too. Easier URL to remember too!

Forced to do all that Japanese at school and this is the first time it has come in useful.

It has always suprised me how a country can have such a market for a 30 year old car, when an 'old' car is only 4 or 5 years old.
