Need Advice on swapping the engine from the '74 to the '71 or possibly another car...

Is you experience, is it easier to pull the unit out as one part (engine and tranny) or seperate the two?

Let me know the shortcuts if any??

Thanks guys, I have a buch of decisions coming soon on cars and what to do with 'em...

I really need a good car in need of a motor / tranny...

I'm just not sure that the '71 (unfortunatly is going together as planned...

Thanks and have a great day!

Will is right. Get yourself one of those tilting attachments for the hoist. As you're removing the motor/tranny combo you can tilt the assembly to clear the radiator support and the firewall at the same time. Worked for me, just dont forget the speedo cable!:stupid:

Much luck!

Those tilting attachemnts for the hoist are great, but locally they are quite expensive.

The way i did it was to use a screwdriver in the loops of the chain to adjust how far the chain will slip though the hook, determining the angle of the motor.
