DoctorMuffn Posted June 11, 2004 Share #1 Posted June 11, 2004 No way! I bought one from a yard yesterday in hopes that it would work, but the regulator itself is almost an inch too long and the window is a few inches too long. Consensus: The window regulators or door windows from a 260Z will not bolt directly into a 240Z or vice versa. I would imagine the same is true for the 280s as well, but I didn't verify that. Correct me if any of this information is wrong or it needs to be more specific to seating layout or whatever. Alan Pugh Posted June 11, 2004 Share #3 Posted June 11, 2004 The regulators did change a little between models and yes you have got a window glass from a 2+2. DoctorMuffn Posted June 12, 2004 Author Share #4 Posted June 12, 2004 Yeah, it was a 2+2.In fact, I have a question I need answered: Did Nissan make 260s with only 2 seats? Oh yeah, and where the hell can I find these parts? I spent all day in pick-a-part yards and wasn't able to find a regulator (the brackets that support and drive/move the door windows) anywhere. The Doctor Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12158-260z-window-regulator-in-a-240z/#findComment-84837 Share on other sites
beandip Posted June 12, 2004 Share #5 Posted June 12, 2004 the '74 260 was the first year for the 2+2 , at least in the US. To answer the question most of the '74s were not the 2+2s. All the 240s are the same . I dont know of the 280s that is a good question. :classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12158-260z-window-regulator-in-a-240z/#findComment-84844 Share on other sites
sblake01 Posted June 12, 2004 Share #6 Posted June 12, 2004 I would think the 260 2 seater regulator and window would fit. As far as the 280, I doubt it. There are differences in the internal door design between the 240 and 280. sblake01 Posted June 12, 2004 Share #7 Posted June 12, 2004 After looking it up on the microfiche, here's what I found. The two seaters use the same door glass up to 6/76 build date but the regulators are unique to the 70-73 240Z. So from this I can derive that all 240Zs 70-73 have the same window regulators and door windows? Some guy at the chula vista all Z yard was trying to tell me that a 72 regulator won't fit into a 73... ?The Doctor Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12158-260z-window-regulator-in-a-240z/#findComment-84873 Share on other sites
sblake01 Posted June 12, 2004 Share #9 Posted June 12, 2004 Well, in the microfiche, the part numbers are the same 70-73. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12158-260z-window-regulator-in-a-240z/#findComment-84884 Share on other sites
DoctorMuffn Posted June 13, 2004 Author Share #10 Posted June 13, 2004 Thanks a lot, sblake01, for sharing your knowledge with me.Actually, I was curious about one more thing... Where can I get the microfiche so that I can have access to this information too. I have a feeling that I'm going to be keeping my car for a long time and more parts will be needed down the road.
