lordbiotree Posted June 13, 2004 Share #4 Posted June 13, 2004 the engine displacement is the most notable one. eg.2.4/2.6/2.8/3.0/3.5 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12168-whats-the-difference-z-or-zx/#findComment-84900 Share on other sites

Alfadog Posted June 13, 2004 Share #7 Posted June 13, 2004 I wish I couldn't tell the difference... that'd make buying a "Z" a lot cheaper!! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12168-whats-the-difference-z-or-zx/#findComment-84919 Share on other sites
TomoHawk Posted June 13, 2004 Share #8 Posted June 13, 2004 I bet Kats would have the answer to this one. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12168-whats-the-difference-z-or-zx/#findComment-84928 Share on other sites
texasz Posted June 13, 2004 Share #9 Posted June 13, 2004 Originally posted by lordbiotree the engine displacement is the most notable one. eg.2.4/2.6/2.8/3.0/3.5 Clarification... the 2.8 was in both the 280Z and the 280ZX. The ZX was introduced in 1980 as I recall, which was also the Z car's 10th anniversary and the 280ZX was only made through '83 then in '84 the 300ZX came out which had the 3.0 in it. Victor Laury Posted June 13, 2004 Share #10 Posted June 13, 2004 Originally posted by Alfadog I wish I couldn't tell the difference... that'd make buying a "Z" a lot cheaper!! True. But, suprisingly, it would be more expensive to restore. All those gadgets cost money, and will no doubt require replacements. auto door locks and elec. window operators add up quick. And, since the earlier cars are considered more "collectable", reproduction parts have been made availible. Example - you find plastic interior panels for the S30, now find them for an S130. Seat kits? Carpet Kits? In the roadster world we have 67.5itis. What's that? Since the 67.5 roadster is the collectors dream, no one bothers to make reproduction parts for my lowly 1970 model. Nope. 1979 was the first 280ZX. 1978 was the last year of the original body style in the 280Z. lordbiotree Posted June 13, 2004 Share #12 Posted June 13, 2004 You've got the Japanese domestic market Fairlady Z with the 2.0? 2.4? inline 6? SMUSICMANS Personally I like Z cars better, including the new 350Z. The ZX are bigger heavier and not to mention not to appealing. We have to sperate the 1990-1996 300ZX. I think the Z32 is a classic body style. The problem with 90-96ZX is the $$$ tag. The best Z in my personal opinion is the 70-73 240Z. When you stop and look at an early Z, the view just says it all. Those of us with 240Z's know what I'm talking about. Then you've got the 1970 model. I enjoy the history and heritage behind the Z. Most of all I enjoy the great people the Z draws like myself, you, and all others. Zmefly (James) comes to mind.-Brandon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12168-whats-the-difference-z-or-zx/#findComment-84956 Share on other sites
