260 Hitachi SU's running pig rich at idle ?

I just bought a 74 260, and got it running, well sort of. It runs smooth, but rich at 2500 rpm up. the real problem is idle which it loads up very bad) and up to 2500 rpm. It black smokes and runs extremely rich like the chokes are stuck on but they arent.How do I go about fixing these wonderous:sick: Hitachi carbs? i have tried to follow the tuning procedures, but I suspect it to be something internal, or possibly with the idle air adjustmant? any help would be appreciated.

welcome to the wonderful world of the flat top carbs. My advise is to throw them in the shi& can and find a pair of round tops. You will be so much better off and satisfided. There out there to be found , I picked up a couple of sets as spairs . I do know of a guy that has some for for sale .
