rusty260z Posted August 17, 2004 Share #1 Posted August 17, 2004 I was thinking of getting some sort of art work done to my hood and frontal area, maybe by hand , but woundering if anyone eles has seem a zed with this done to it, any pictures would be appricated, especially white cars and / or with a g-nose, others what have you seen people do apart from flames. thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12901-wanted-ideas-on-graphics-for-hood-non-flames/ Share on other sites
speedyblue Posted August 17, 2004 Share #2 Posted August 17, 2004 There is the checker board look. Bit outdated now though.Scallops. Look good if done right, but can go bad in the wrong hands.Big water drops, like the front of the car has been dropped in a paint tin.It is up to you and your imagination. Street Machine mags usually have some cool paint jobs in them, or you could try the Hot 4's style mag if you dare.Good luck. Alfadog Posted August 17, 2004 Share #5 Posted August 17, 2004 tring to avoid the fast and furious look. What look DO you want though? There are an infinite amount of things you can do to your paint to make it look different.... what are you trying to achieve? P.S. I think Rob's idea could work. Just make sure it's not too pansy Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12901-wanted-ideas-on-graphics-for-hood-non-flames/#findComment-91538 Share on other sites

kyteler Posted August 17, 2004 Share #7 Posted August 17, 2004 My choice would be the flag of the Japanese Empire on the bonnet or with the circular part on the bonnet and the rays of red going along the car. I suggested it for a race car when someone on here was looking to update their AutoX car's graphics, apparently it wouldn't have gone down well in their home state of Texas though. Hur hur. Gav240z Posted August 17, 2004 Share #8 Posted August 17, 2004 Why not try the 280zzapp look ? Not specifically like that but along those lines just the Black Pearl has around the hump in the bonnet. You can define it with pin striping. I think it's not fast n furious and not over the top. Suits the car well in my opinion.BTW what's the color of the car? beandip Posted August 17, 2004 Share #9 Posted August 17, 2004 I am geting ready for paint at present and have been toying with the idea myself. I am contemplating using some pearl on the whole car just to set it off but to shade the center " hump" with a double shot of pearl and take it up the windshield , wind screen . The color I have picked is Ferarri Yellow with gold pearl in the first coat of clear. Suttle but a little of flash . What do you think ? Gee Posted August 17, 2004 Share #10 Posted August 17, 2004 I think the old-school black bonnet can look good. If you wanted a "new school" variation you could always go carbon-fibre - then you could take it back to stock when you want to sell the car. You'd have a lightweight bonnet and a spare in case of accident too! speedyblue Posted August 18, 2004 Share #11 Posted August 18, 2004 At the moment, the fast and furious look pretty much covers everything. Most of the ideas have been around since day one, like scallops and flames on old hotrods. Muscle cars coming from the factory with most of the bonet backed out, huge over the top GT racing stripes. Now if you have a black bonnet, you're a ricer, and imagine what would happen if Ford painted their top FPV with the white and blue cobra stripes like on the coupe in the 70's. It would instantly be tagged "Fast and Furious" style by those not in the know. What it comes down to is that it is your car, so paint it how YOU like it, not by how it will be jugded by some teenager how only knows about 'Fast and Furious' and 'Need for Speed - Underground', and enjoy driving it that way knowing that if you pass a hot skyline/silvia/supra in the street, there will be another 4 in the next kilometre, and zero old zcars.Good luck with your decision.
