Alfadog Posted August 17, 2004 Share #3 Posted August 17, 2004 I think he means the later Zs - but still before the 280ZX. I think the model changed from S30 to S31 when they changed a few things (when the 260Z came in?). And G stands for 2+2? Geez, with trying to learn all about the C110's I've forgotten all the Z stuff :stupid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12902-are-gs31-and-s30-body-pannels-swappable/#findComment-91524 Share on other sites

Geez, with trying to learn all about the C110's I've forgotten all the Z stuff :stupid: Didn't happen in the USA. S30 was from 69/70 thru 78. 280ZX became S130, then 300ZX was Z31 and then Z32 If you are refering to swapping between Coupe and 2+2 models, I think it will depend on the specific panel you are refering to as to whether it can be swapped. HS30-H Posted August 17, 2004 Share #7 Posted August 17, 2004 The Japanese market cars changed from the 'S30' model code to 'S31' in late 1975.All the 'S31' cars used the injected L20E engine, but previous domestic models used the L20, L24 and S20 engines. There was a brief period in Japan where RS30 ( L26 engined ) models were being made for domestic sale, but after problems with them the Factory converted these cars to L20 engines and restamped the VINs accordingly. rusty260z,That 'G' prefix on your car denotes a 2+2, and the fact that its a a 'GS31' shows that it is a Japanese home market 'Fairlady 2/2' model. I think you know that already. Most of the panels are interchangeable on a like-for-like basis ( S30 / S31 2 seater for S30 / S31 2 seater and S30 / S31 2+2 or 2/2 for S30 / S31 2+2 or 2/2 ). Of course, 2 seater-specific panels will not fit a 2+2 / 2/2 and vice-versa. That's all you need to look out for really. What panels specifically? Maybe we can help in more detail if we have more info. rusty260z Posted April 2, 2005 Author Share #8 Posted April 2, 2005 a bit old, but i trying to get mine back on the road, the parts i have to change is the hear hatch and front hood, and maybe doors. will the g-nose be a issue for changing the bonnet. my likely source for a parts car is probably a 280z probably a 2+2question 2 - was there much difference btw a l20e and l20et. (matter of curiosity) also were the wing mirrors originally used on the japan cars, used on any other cars or close abouts design wise. thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/12902-are-gs31-and-s30-body-pannels-swappable/#findComment-119204 Share on other sites
