Sorry guys, I have had and responded to so may PMs on these I confused my self into thinking I had posted about it.

Here is the story.

I paid a company to produce durable molds for the plexi and stamping dies for the stainless. After several revisions of the molds and dies, the company (in Mexico) went bust before they returned the materials to me. I retained a lawyer to attempt to get them back, and only recently stopped that attempt. I have spent just shy of 13k to have permanent aluminum molds made for the covers and dies made for the stainless(including legal fees)and have only cancelled checks to show for it.

That has left a bad taste in my mouth (and a hollow feeling in my wallet) that has helped me to deside that all of the "extras" I intend to make will come after my car is finished as I originally intended. I have quite a list of "extras" almost ready, but working on them keeps pushing my ability to complete and drive my car further and further off. So they are all now officially on the back burner until I get some road time ion my Z! It is still hanging on the rotisserie, waiting... with a big bunch of highly organized NOS and restored parts collecting dust along with several boxes of yet to be restored parts. I want to be posting pictures of progress again, and actually enter my 240Z in the MSA show next year. I want to drive my 240Z to shows, not the Volvo I will be driving to Zfest, or a rental. I intend to get right back into all of the projects as soon as the car is complete, and I have not lost the enthusiasm for them, but put them back into proper pecking order.

That said, some of the parts will be developed as I get to needing them, for instance, the hatch hinge boots. A member loaned me a used set to make molds from, and I have since gotten a NOS pair to work with. Once I paint the car-or mabe slightly before-I will get those made, and make them available to as needed after the car is complete.

The point of making the parts is to add to our cars-not our collection of parts which right now is exactly what I have. I will finish the car and then develop and make the "extras" and make them (including the JDM headlight covers) available to everyone. I hope you all understand, and can appreciate my situation.

Will thanks for the update. I was wondering about your endeavors with all this stuff and asking my self where do you get the time to cover it all , and do your Z. Now we know, you cant. Sounds like you have the right focus . Keep your eyes on the priZe . All the Best . Gary:)

Wow that really sucks Will. I wonder if the bastards ever had any intention of making the molds or if they were just scamming you and others the whole time. What a shame. Get that dusty pile of parts put together and rolling down the highway. I look forward to seeing it completed. I think we can all wait on the reproductions, and thanks for the making the effort to offer these parts to the community.

Cheers!

I found this today over at Hybridz. I'd love to see this happen, although you'd still have to come up with a set of chrome rings or make your own if you don't already have them. For those of you that do...lucky bastards...you may just ahve found a way to get replacement lenses is this goes through.

I hope he gets them made, having a local MFR will go a long way in helpiong that end out. Later today, I will email him and see if he wants the info I had compiled on my efforts. I would love to see these successfully done-even if not my me.

I believe the guy that runs that company is a member on Hybrid Z. If I recall correctly his father started the company, and now he runs it.

Might be worth contacting him to see if he would be interested in producing JDM style headlight covers.

HI

Here you have the oportunity to have the lens covers. They are aftermarket, but they look the same as original ones.

I have a pair and like it, still others members have them and they are very pleasure
