xray Posted September 7, 2004 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2004 Hey folks:need some advice. Stripped the interior over the weekend and was busy inspecting for rust. Unfortunately, found some in the driver's floorpan and against the firewall. Oh, well-not really question of "if" so much as it is "how much" :disappoin To the point, I noticed some surface-looking rust inside the door sill (As you know, it is hollow there with several 2 inch cutouts for wiring) along the inner surface of the metal which makes the outer surface of the car. (Sorry, I am blanking on the right term for it.) It is difficult to see, let alone paint/grind. Has anyone encountered that? Maybe a long-shaft extension and a grinding wheel, followed by mostly blind POR-15 application? Thanks,X Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/13155-hard-to-reach-areas/ Share on other sites
240ZX Posted September 7, 2004 Share #2 Posted September 7, 2004 Sound like the typical case of the Rusty Z car blues to me! If you are a perfectionist, you may want to consider removing the door and have it dipped. POR-15 is good stuff and there are other products that are meant to be applied over light surface rust to stop the rust from further growth. Maybe POR-15 works the same...I'm not sure. Anyway, at least you are addressing the rust monster. There are no easy ways to kill the beast unless you have penty-o-money and can afford to have someone else do it for you. Sorry I have no secrets to share on this subject....good luck xray and welcome aboard.
